Daewon is one of the greatest of all time, but I hate his "manual into and out of everything all over the park" shit.

Daewon clips now are basically for people who used to skate or sort of know about skating/Daewon to scroll on IG and go “oh wow he manualed the whole skate park!”

If he put out an actual street part today  I would be so stoked

I was a big fan back in the day and I still revisit his parts occasionally.
Skates fast, good style, good pop, shreds transition, ledges, gaps, mannys, pretty ATV, the occasional double flip or 180 isn't that big of a deal to me.

I remember a thread where it was brought up that Mariano one time in one part did a nollie smith or something and people were talking in earnest like it called his whole legacy into question.

I know someone can say this better than I can, but it FEELS like skateboarding is between two important eras right now. There’s a few who may be some sort of bridge between the two but overall we just aren’t there yet or haven’t really seen the “new guys” yet. I mean with all respect to those out there ripping. There are so many, maybe too many of the new young guys doing things my era never did.

Not sure if it’s a rumor but the way he did Ed never really sat right with me, going to Ed so he’d cut Senn to afford Kerry and then to up and leave for Habiwack is kinda lame, I know everyone left so it wasn’t just him but the way he went around it felt a bit more scummy

Not sure if this is a hot take but excessively long manuals don’t film great. I know it feels awesome but IMO a quicker manual looks better on film

For example, everyone crushed the Santa Monica triple set like it was your standard 10 stair, and it's clear that everyone's figured the thing out. So it's not as interesting as it once was.

I still enjoy watching them but no denying that seeing a bunch of top tier pros and pine gangbang a famous spot really takes away some of the magic.

all those tricks count a little less since they take drastic measures to fix the spot up (like they had a proper run-up and crowds blocking the landing in the santa monica one) and they're all just a little less memorable than if they were in a part

I’m split on this take. The fixed run up for the event made a lot of those tricks possible. I’m not opposed to seeing certain skaters or tricks get done there in the future. Blake Carpenter  doing a switch back 360 would be sick. Jeff D going back for a triple flip would be gross. This spot was practically retired anyways. When is the last time an NBD went down there in a video part?

Unpopular opinion? Sure here’s one. Stop dressing like you work at a thrift store. Majority of skateboarders “now a days “ are way to cool for any sort of branding but not to cool to drop 120 dollars on a pair of baggy pants. I mean even when it comes to the new board graphics being put  out, it’s pure shit. QUASI literally looks like I asked an 8th grade art class to draw on some fuckin blanks. Same with LIMO. At this point I firmly believe the cool thing in skateboarding now is to look like you do not skateboard at all, like it’s some fuckin weird little kink you want to keep to yourself.

I love blank tees skaters era and I most skate in no logo clothes. But If you are sponsored you must  dress fresh clothes and at least two logo shirt in your video parts.

A lot of carhartt and dickies riders dress like homeless. This has been a trend since suburban kids wanna dress like they are broke. For skate brands its the worst trend and kids dont want to buy logo clothes just to look like their idols.
