I think this is a popular opinion but I am riffing off of the last couple posts. I don’t like Nike, I don’t buy/wear Nike (even non-sb). That said, at this point Nike paid its dues. It’s been in the game longer than most skater owned shoe brands and put more money in more skaters pockets than any brand. They make lots of videos and put shine on a variety of skaters.
When Nike first entered people were afraid of a possible rug pull, but skater owned brands rug pull too as soon as the numbers look bad. All shoes are made in sweatshops by slaves, what’s the fucking difference? Or is soletech manufacturing somehow ‘more ethical’? Doubt.
Dunks are my favorite shoe to skate in, so I typically buy a fresh pair, wear them as my day to day shoes for a few months until they start getting a little dirty, buy a fresh set and downgrade the previous pair to my skate shoes.
Sneakerheads would probably hate my guts for all the dunk colorways I've destroyed in the past few years.
Having said that, right now I'm skating in Adidas Tyshawn 2s right now and they might literally be the toughest shoe I've ever worn. Not sure if it's normal or I happened to get an exceptionally sturdy pair, but I'm very hard on shoes, and I'm at least 15 sessions in on these T2s and they barely even look skated in.
