Anyone into cars?
« on: November 17, 2009, 10:39:16 AM »
I was just looking at the F-1 thread and have seen the motorcycle thread on here before and it got me asking if anyone on here is into cars (building, racing, etc). I've been into them for as long as I can remember (I'm from Europe and my father is an og f-1 fan) and just purchased my first car 18 months ago and have been obsessed since. Just seeing what people out there on slap are doing carwise.

i like musle cars like this one but don't own one

i'm actually driving a charger rental while my 4runner is in the shop and it's pretty fun to drive but pisses me off because for some reason this new crop of muscle cars they didn't feel the need to make the engine sound gnarly. it's regular. my mom actually commented when i was showing her how much power it has "wow, this thing sounds like a sowing machine..." epic fell guys

I've had about 30+ cars and trucks since I started driving. Right now I'm working a 1973 Pontiac Grandville 2-door Hardtop. It has a 455 Long Block in it that's pushing about 375 horsepower at the rear wheels with minor upgrades and dual exhaust. It's not as big as some early 70's cars but it is still large. Very fun to drive and super fast. Gas mileage is not good at all. Hopefully that might change after I put the new carb on and tune it perfectly. It's like driving a 120 mph living room.

http://tinyurl.com/ybb3kzc

This is a four-door version of what I'm working with. Mine is Florentine Red with a white top.

Here is a famous car chase scene from the 1973 movie called "The Seven-Ups". The criminals are driving the blue car. I ended finding and buying my car because of this movie. The Blue Grandville gets worked but whatever. That is what it pretty much runs and looks like. Enjoy.

Oh.....and East Is In The House. That song is dope. That reminded me of The Coup which I just put in. Thanks man.

My cousin introduced me to BMW's and the tuning world  of said cars. I don't own one, but I would like to  buy and fix up either an e30 three series or an e34 five series. Something similar to the picture

I'd kill to have the Audi and BMW. Personally, I'm riding Hondas dick right now but lately sparked a slight interest in muscle cars after I went to a racetrack with my buddy and his dad. Also, I remember reading about Nick dompierre and mikey Taylor being into this shit too I was psyched on that. Damn I wish I had more time and money for skating and cars...

Pancake man, Ahlee used to have an e30 much like that a few years back so if you do buy one, he'd be the dude to talk to. Those things are sick!

I wish I could buy one, but still in school at the moment, so money is scarce. One day though, one day. Do you have a personal preference or do you not know BMW's well enough?

I was wondering if there was a car thread on here...

Here's my car. It's a 2000 Miata. Haven't taken it to the track yet :(

Mods:
CAI, Racing Beat Midpipe, Enthuza Muffler, Boss Frog roll bar, Corbeau Forza seats, Hawk HP plus pads, Raceland Coilovers.

after I installed my coilovers...testing how low they could go

edit: took my dog for a drive today :)

e30 is where its at man. cars handle so well.. i used to drive this one until a pothole full of water decided to totally take out my oilpan and steering rack.. it was too much of a paint in the ass to maintain after that.

Personal preference for Bimmers would be either the e30 M3 or an e46 M3 they seem so fun to drive. If I'm ever rich, I want to try out a B7 Alpina. I'd love to learn more about them/own one but I'm on your same boat with school and lack of money it sucks.

As for dude with the Miata, it looks fun to drive but I like the older generation better just because of it's form and even lighter and smaller chassis liek the ones above

Yeah, I was stuck between the NA (90-97) and the NB (99-04). The pop-up lights from the NA grew on me after I had my NB for a while. I'm still on the hunt for a cheap NA, because I'd love to have both.

i went through a shit ton of oilpans... pay to play. driving a slammed car isnt that hard once you get used to it.. just knowing to ride spines on the highway and take angles and what not.

Once I finally decide on some wheels and get new coilovers I'm gonna slam my car again. I loved being low.

I've got a Saab 900 S Talladega Edition. I haven't done anything but add a Borla muffler. The hatchback is very practical for road trips but I'm thinking FWD was a mistake.

(not my car but very similar)

Nothing amazing. Though it's got the Talladega spoiler and air dam which set it apart from other NG900s and 9-3s, and best of all no monthly payments.

Next up will probably be a Volvo S60 R (300hp, AWD), or maybe even an Evo. Nowadays even factory NA engines can produce 100hp per liter of displacement (new Civic Si) so I'm thinking that the goal of any forced induction system should be 200hp/L, like one version of the Evo VIII sold in the UK.

Anyone into tuning will definitely dig this anime. There's an arcade game based around it too, Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3, which is just amazing if you can find a machine. There's an arcade in Toronto where Cantonese kids 4-way battle well past 4 a.m. every weekend.
