Are the white Spanky G6s with the black sole still coming out?  Haven't been as excited for a shoe as those since the Westgate G6s.  Interested to see what comes from the new designer too.

I’m here for it. Thanks for the response @emericaTM. I dig the Wolverine connection too. Could see the rubber and hinted at it being an extra layer for the toe cap. I shared the Dickson preview image originally. Just certain vulc sole shoes of Emerica’s look super similar and it’s clear to see a few changes made from the wino g6 to come to this shoe. The spanky are a great shoe too. Even still looking forward to what’s next in 2020

Hey dude, the soles are actually a dark green but yes those are part of the Spring 20 line so they will be out in the next several weeks. We're all really excited to have some new creative eyes on the footwear design and are currently discussing some really different shoes, cool color ways, and some special reissues.

The Wolverine connection is something we're pretty stoked on since this is Jon's first shoe for Emerica so it's extremely important to us that we have little special things to bring it all together and stoke Jon out. Totally hear you on a lot of the vulc shoes looking similar and with this one we obviously added some special features from the Wino G6 to Jon's shoe (Flick Shield, desert grip tread, Wolverine pig suede on the burgundy colorway, etc.) but yet both the Black and Olive colorways stay at the same price as the Wino G6 so now you're getting additional features at no additional cost. The new Emerica video drops next month and can't wait for everyone to see it especially Jon's part as he has been on one and it is truly something special.

Emerica TM, please do a Wino slip-on variant with a cupsole. I know I've already said this but I'll be a lifer if you guys put these out. Basically a shoe that offered a slim cupsole and clean upper like the G6 slip on, with a fit that didn't involve chewing through laces or ripping the stretchy side part of your slip on. I guess Vans tried with that new kyle walker shoe but that looks like a dumpster fire and the toe looks terrible to skate.

May we suggest a Lowland PRO?

Like I said above, this shoe would probably be a staple for me. It’s got that classic dunk like shape I’m always looking for in a skate shoe (that hardly exists anymore despite being ubiquitous in a bad way not that long ago).

This honestly has a very classy silhouette and nice color blocking. Doesn’t fall into the generic 2000’s skate shoe look.

I legit think the Supra looks better. Not just saying that cause fuck Nike either.

It's cause the Supra is committed to the lacing system, the traditional lace holes on the Nike make it look like some faux-brogue patterning, and clash with the rest of the design.

Also, they panelling looks like the Lakai Camby. But also worse.

This shoe overcompensates for Shane's personality by having at least 3 of it's own.

FINALLY!! Someone agrees the paneling is like a Lakai Camby Mid, not a good look for Nike to be semi copying the cardboard shoe company....

Throw it on the Romero sole if you have to. Just make sure the insole is removable so I can add something better.

I really like those vans and actually like the branding on it. The jazz stripe makes all vans look the same so I like it when they do something new.
The colorways are cool too.
What’s the issue with that outsole/midsole (the comfycush thing)? Is it foam or something?

I wasn't really a fan of the ultra cush insoles or any of the iterations but is this one different or perhaps better? The vans websites newest drop has the shoes with the new insoles. Can someone please explain this to me. Why is it someone is continuously given colorways of shoes without ever being given a pro model? This isn't a hateful question, I'm truly curious because as of the last few years I've seen many get nothing but colorways, while those who got their own pro model shoe had maybe one colorway and that was to test the waters of if their name sells to give them their own design. Case in point: Nak, dude has had 5 now. AA now has another and he's been getting colorways since it was him, Gilbert, Pfanner, and Chima all getting their own colorways of all team shoes and even being front runners to advertise the stage 4s. Miles Silvas has had 4 or 5 colorways and his parts always create a lot of interest amongst the majority of skating. But none of these dudes have pro models, just colorways.

And on the flipside, Shane just now got his first shoe and had his own Janoski colorway not long ago, but when CK1 first got on NikeSB he was immediately given a colorway of the Janoski. And Tyshawn got one colorway of the shell toe and then a pro model was in the works before he got SOTY. Tiago was also the same way for his colorway of the Plaza before getting his pro model.

I'm not hating on any of the skaters, I'm just genuinely confused to what and why of the whole situation because (at least to me), if you've had a colorway of most of the new shoes coming out that either says 1. Your name/color choices sell really well and maybe are tests to see if you can carry your own model or 2. they are willing to give you a chance repetitively but something isn't working, questioning sponsorship. Either way, if someone has countless colorways and no pro model shoe, something doesn't add up to me because talent doesn't mean pro model, it's how well you're able to be marketed and if you're name sells, pro models can come faster for those individuals. Again totally just my thoughts but can someone give me some insight?

I can't speak for the brands out there but if you look at big brands like Nike, Cons, Adidas, and Vans they just don't really do pro model shoes. Vans probably the most out of all the corporate brands but for the other three, they just don't seem too eager to give a pro shoe to a lot of their riders. Designing a pro shoe takes a long time with a lot of back and forth the the team rider, getting multiple versions of the shoe sampled, etc. and with something like a colorway the process is just a lot more simple with the fact that the shoe is already in the line and the only thing that has to be changed in the color and/or materials. Another thing to think of is that those brands probably don't need to be making pro models. Is the new Ave or Shane shoe really gonna blow up and make them millions? Probably not as they have their existing models that do that such as the Eras, Half Cabs, Janoski's, Dunks. They have their money makers and are probably content with it. They can give a rider a colorway, put it out sooner and probably make the same amount if not more since they don't have to create a new mold which is extremely expensive. At a brand like Emerica, we've given a lot of the pros shoes over the years and most of them have had multiple shoes so I think it's just sort of how a brand sees it.

I'm sure there are a lot of factors at play that change from skater to skater. But just to focus on your examples of Nakel and Tyshawn, both of them are big names but it seems like adidas wants to push Tyshawn like their next Busenitz as one of their superstars. While nakel is a big name he may not be assigned the same worth to have them design a brand new shoe for him. Plus too many pro model shoes would saturate their catalog while pro colorways generally sell quickly then are done with till the next one.

I'm sure the decision making changes company to company and i'm no expert but that's my guess.

Nak gets his own colorways but no promodel because he's a big name but the Adidas heads are afraid of what a scrub like him would do with too much say over a design

Might as well not bother if it's going to utilise the pseudo-cupsole Romero sole. The wino slip-on vulcs skate great but having bum knees limit their use. G6 or nothing.

The lower profile on Spankys compared to Reynolds is a nice change but you go through laces more rapidly. That wouldn't be a problem in slip-ons, either.

Is not that comfycush have an issue, is just not meant for skateboarding. I have some comfycush old Skools which are really nice for chilling but there is no way I would skate then since the rubber is soft like the vapor one that Nike used on some Blazers for example.
That's ok the flicking rubber, then you have the middle which you can see through the sole which has a bouncy feeling.
Not even for pushing on a cruiser.

Correct , it’s kind of like that adidaprene stuff from yesteryear , very soft and slippery
