I'm also wondering this too. Definitely seems like a conscious decision to delay the release after the death of George Floyd and BLM protests, which I really respect and appreciate them doing, but it's a little weird that no one's said anything about it.

I love Sole Tech and especially es' but they keep remaking shoes I never knew existed in the first place because they're the ugliest ones they ever made. I'm 100% with all the folks saying es' has way too rich a history full of amazing shoes to be reissuing shit like this.

All due respect to you Johnes, I know this sort of thing appeals to you - I just wish they'd pick better ones to remake.

Es and Lakai reuse sole designs on so many models, I can't stand that. I know it's a cost thing but come on. Back in the day they'd have unique sole designs for each and every model. Once they figured out that they can save a few dollars by putting the same sole on multiple models it started to really stand out to me and bother me.

I also don't like it but it's 100% because the big corpo brands took so much of the market share that the cost of tooling a new cupsole mold IS prohibitive. Back in the day they could make more cupsole molds because they were riding high on sales. Skating may be bigger now, but it's still a niche market. Sole Tech is operating on a tiny fraction of what they once had for budgets.

I'd be totally ok with them using the Accel sole on some other models. The sole from the Swift is great on the Accel Slim Plus. That's a case of it working out well.

My issue with the eS reissues (among many things) is that theyre trying to make them more 'skateable' buy thinning down the tooling, but in doing so they're completely destroying the proportions of the shoe. The uppers are so freakishly tall in comparison to the sole! It looks like complete sh*t. No one is buying these types of reissues for 'boardfeel' so why not just go all out and include the f*cking airbag!!

Look at the original for example, I get it, totally primitive and huge, but the ratio between the sole and the upper is way more balanced. Also the finish and detailing looks to be much more high quality, but that's a different story..

If you're making an old school shoe, give us a new sole with an air bubble. Now they're just charging top dollar for a shoe that feels like it's worth half as much.
