These 2 colorways are firee. The shoe skates really good too.
The black one looks pretty to me, but don't seems to have any cushion
I own them and they're more cushioned than the average skate shoe. Got a pretty nice insole too. You basing that just off the picture?
A warning though - I skated mine for one hour and almost went through the entire first lace loop. Had to super glue the shit out of it. If you get them, I recommend super glue before even skating them, and lots. To be honest this has made me wonder why any skate shoes use loops like that - once they break you can never lace your shoe properly again. Normal lace holes aren't at risk of that.
Lace protectors save your laces, which is a great convenience, and they look good on certain designs, but it only makes sense if they are made of durable material.
These lace loops don't protect your laces - I still ripped my lace right there within 10 minutes of skating. Making them out of suede makes no sense, as you alluded to. They do look good on some designs like these - it's just a shame it means brand new shoes have to get loaded with glue.
When we get new colors at the shop I'm going to try them on because I had to go up to 11 with the pair I got, and even then the left one is still too small. I wear 10.5 in most shoes. I think I may have just got a dud pair - they don't look even when you look down at them either. One of the t-toe panels is off center. Hate to say it, but I can't defend Lakai like I do for Sole Tech because I've only ever had 3 pairs (these Carrolls being the 3rd) and none of them have been very good. They all kinda hurt my feet to be honest.
