The images on that Vans site make it look like the ankle collar might be genuine leather. Classic way to ruin an otherwise vegan-friendly shoe, with a nonfunctional leather piece.

That new AVE is really fucking interesting!

Love to see brands pushing material innovation like that. That kind of TPU filament can be surprisingly strong, and work in really interesting ways when heat pressed with different base materials. I definitely think the durability will be surprisingly good!

Just kinda hate that weirdly shaped leather collar that had no reason to be in this shoe. As someone pointed out, such a dumb way to take it away from being Vegan-friendly.

I used to love the OG high-top version, now I'm kind of over the turqoise outline on the lace flaps (not sure if that's the right term). Still, I can't deny that they look good. The high-tops were really hard to skate in, though - wonder what these will feel like.

The Vans site says that AVE shoe is releasing at 11 shops, and 8 of them are in Canada. I'm probably not buying them, but it's nice to feel like they remembered us up here.

probably unpopular opinion but I would lace those all the way to the top. I don't like when my pants sit on those top lace tabs.

Oh hell yeah I've been waiting for these to drop! I'm copping these the moment they hit skateshops. Looks like Vans is also doing a clothing collection with Gilbert. SPOT has some of the pieces up on their website already, but not the shoes.

Yup, Telford look great, but they just not it. Such a disappointment.

A just gave my old pair to a kid at the skatepark yesterday and he was super stoked on them. He took off his converse to wear them. So I guess lakai is doing something right at the moment.

The mids are sick and those yellow ones look good too. I’ll definitely pick them up from zumiez clearance just to wear around.
