imagine its a Humidity x Vans Half Cab

I like Philly and Humidity but please dont go the route of the Dunk Hi (the trumpet gold color way paying homage to the jazz scene in NO)

Did he put a halfcab upper on a dunk sole a while back or was that someone else? (Obvs the real thing wouldn't be a dunk sole but maybe some kind of cupsole halfcab

I thought there was a possibility of a Half Cab on an Ultimate Waffle (AVE) sole.

I think a Half Cab on a wafflecup would be rad.  Either the Crockett or even BMX wafflecup.

edit:

Here's the post I was thinking of.

The Kevin Peraza BMX shoe is very close to a Half Cab and is on Wafflecup. He told me that the BMX sole on it just has a different tread pattern but its the same as normal waffle cup in terms of stiffness. They don't put anything extra in for support on the pedals, but they build the rubber up on the rear cuz cranks hit that part a lot.

I have a pair. The cushioning is actually quite good (I think it’s the same as what they use in the b ball shoes). Materials are very tech but feel thin. Haven’t skated them but think they wouldn’t last great. Went tts.

Has anyone tried the Li-ning Erik Ellington shoe yet?

This above. I have the Midnight and just ordered that Sunrise pair (and am waiting for the all-whites too). I haven’t skated them either but plan on skating the Midnights at some point. I’m not sure they would last either but I’m super curious how they’ll feel when skating. If you don’t want to skate them, I think they’re still worth it. I really like how out there they are.

It’s true we are long overdue for a wafflecup half cab.

There is a goretex half cab on the way as well, but it's a 92 model.

The one in the photo above?

(You say “but it’s a 92 model” like that’s a bad thing)

Does Labor have a half cab coming out in the 18th?   They’re having some event and there’s a green half cab in the background thst doesn’t seem to be the sci fi one…which means three green half cabs in pretty quick succession.    Think they would space this out or get more variations going.

Is that the only stock they're doing? Already sold out and being flipped.

Skate shops want skaters to support skater owned shops but then specialize in selling limited skate shoes to non skaters. What an interesting business model.

i feel your pain, but you could flip this to “skaters want skater owned shops to do well but get mad when they build hype and sell-out of a release” really just can’t win.

Who knows if it was just a toe in the water thing to test future collabs.   I don’t think Labor wanted a limited run.

To use the Uprise example (again) - 1st collab was very limited, but the 2nd on and the one from this year had a very wide release.   I don’t get who decides - maybe there was something limited about the gator print

92 Half Cab with the Ave sole would be near perfection. Maybe not aesthetically but functionality and comfort. Chefs kiss.

I mean even if they were limited they don't have to advertise on all the Hypebeast sites to guarantee that fee skaters will actually get them. They're not that much more and plenty of people wild buy and skate them.

did labor pay for advertising on fashion blogs or something? it's a fairly popular shop AND shoe, plus i feel like at this point any limited run shoe at a skate shop is gonna get scalped. call it the dunk effect or something idk

While I’m never gonna say no to a cupsole halfcab why is the dude who’s like literally never worn a vans shoe in his life the guy tasked with the job . Like if there’s one main characteristic about this dude it’s that he only skates in like dunks or other chunky cupsoles. Idk just feels weird . Like a humidity dunk or something would make way more sense .

All that said I gotta see this shoe cause dunk with the ave sole seems like it would be so odd looking.

I know he posted that photo with the AVE sole, but maybe a Half Cab with the sole from the Fairlane would make more sense? The AVE sole would look like a weird Frankenstein model, but the Fairlane sole would look pretty normal on a Half Cab. I wonder about whether or not the upper would fit on there properly as well - the AVE shoe has a pretty distinct shape (wider and rounder toebox than the Half Cab if I remember correctly).

I'm hoping it's not Wafflecup - I find that sole less supportive than the regular Skate Vulc sole, now that they put a heel shank in that one and beefed it up a little. I don't really see the point of Wafflecup anymore in general - I find those shoes to be every bit as thin and floppy in the sole as the old Pro Skate ones used to be.

Think cab's second shoe was a lower version of the halfcab on the Fairlane sole so it could work.

Yeah, It would look pretty ugly. lol It doesn't have to be the same as long as its got the UltimateWaffle poured in (**built-in impact cushioning). For me the AVE's are the most comfortable shoes I've found in years.

I second whoever said that about Wafflecup for the Crockett Highs. Those end up floppier than the current Skate vulcs, but the lows are fairly stiff.

I haven’t had that issue but I came off skating era pros right before the redesign and then Rowan’s and I can always feel the difference in the Rowan’s and the crocketts immediately.

The Waffle cup just kinda works for my knee though so maybe that’s why I don’t notice. Them being stiffer in the back really helps me compared to the vulc pros.

I think he knows that? The difference he noticed is between the Rowan's and Crocketts. Vulc vs Wafflecup.

Right now, I prefer the skate vulc over the waffle cup stuff. I'm a big Marana and Joslin guy and lately I've been skating some Half Cabs that haven't killed my feet like previous Vans (KWalks, Pro Skate: Sk8-Hi, Half Cab, Epoch, Crockett low, etc.) started to do some years ago.

Stopped wearing and got rid of my Vans years ago until I got some Skate Half Cabs last year to try. Now, Half Cabs are a favorite again because they're actually good now and don't just "look" good. Anyways, I'm rambling...

Half Cab on a proper Vans cupsole (Fairlane or Ultimate Waffle if it was not as tapered/tech looking as AVEs) would be fucking rad

All those shoes you didn't like had the ultracush insole, and the pro skate shoes tended to bag out really quick, some people like it, I'm not a fan of it. New Skate Vans are sturdier.  You should try the wayvee, even the Berle if you are into the Michelin sole.

Also why vans hasn't released a cupsole half cab yet
