Extremely trash and the worst part is they were originally planned to not be… Sole Tech is definitely slipping up big time. It’s lost on me that they don’t realize consumers will pay more for a better product. I also don’t understand why they can 1to1 reissue a muska and a creager and can’t put in the same effort for an OG-1 or an actual Heritic. If they don’t think the demand for the shoes is worth the effort why bother in the first place?
Most likely I would assume there is something with having the molds necessary to handle a remake. The Creager and Muska probably had the original rubber molds in storage and hence they were able to adequately remake the shoe, while the other ones do not. Yet again, I can't speak for soletech, and I don't think anyone from their side will chime in and honestly answer the question or take feedback to heart.
I’m pretty confident that any shoe over 15 y/o got the molds destroyed. Usually factories keep old molds in stock for maybe 10 years max… over that you’ll be really lucky that they kept them. It takes space in their storage and they need it for new ones of more recent product.
Also the investment on molds usually it’s a bit different from what I understood. It’s basically paid by the factory and then the brand just pays it back by adding a lil mold cost to every shoe produced (think of a mold tax on every shoe produced). So usually you have a minimum production needed to cover the mold price the factory charges. After that’s covered the production of the shoe becomes cheaper and you make bigger profit.
Other than that, Soletech just really shits the bed with their retros. It’s really not that hard, people want it exactly like they used to be, just do that and everyone’s happy.
