Update on that elephant print Penny 2: eS posted to Instagram today advertising the elephant print, also replacing the original listing on their website for the Navy toe cap with the elephant print. I don't understand how that kind of thing just happens.

Looks like even shops are getting faked out with this. Top Of The World in Ottawa has them listed as white/navy and a corresponding photo on their site, but then yesterday they posted a photo of them on Instagram and it's the white/elephant ones:

There aren't any white/elephant ones listed on their site, so I assume if you order the white/navy ones, the white/elephant ones are what you would receive.

es just changed the images on the site last week. They didn't even change the product URL. It still says white/navy, and even the cached image on google has the navy toe cap.



Skater owned isn't worth shit if your company is sloppy with product. Our local dumped them when every pair of Jerry's shoe ended up coming back with the sole separating from the upper.

. Anyone who actually skates multiple brands would pay 125 for a Michelin g6 shoe if we’re paying $100 plus for 1010s and dunks but sole tech doesn’t listen. Those stupid phocus shoes are already $50 off tactics but they’re getting rid of the ksls and wino cups despite both selling decently well.

I like the shoes , they’re actually great skate shoes but, this brand is just doomed by by terrible management.

Ten years ago the hot model for etnies was the Marana. Now it's 2023 and they're selling the same shoe with a different rubber compound alongside a slightly reworked upper on the same outsole. emerica is discontinuing their best model (KSL), and hasn't been the same since Hsu/Reynolds left. eS puts out "reimagined" retro shoes. There isn't a vision here. The funny thing is that I would gladly do as much work as they needed to just get to a decent point if they were legitimately receptive and open. I'd be down to help like anyone else, and I mean there are scores of people waiting to jump in who could actually put their blood sweat and tears into making that company good.

Brother here speaking the truth. I was a huge Soletech fan back in the day (Emerica and éS, always rhigutthst Etnies was wack) and then I saw how Emerica went the "Circa way" by making all their shoes look exactly the same by being generic boring looking vulc shoes. And then eS with their incredibly crappy reissues for high prices. I remember getting the SLB mid abs they looked and felt like crap and skated even worse.

I’m just saying they entertain ideas often but nothing comes of it. I actually think that would’ve been the best move for es from the get go though. The rollout would’ve hit harder if it was the accel classic , the new accel and the square one since you’d have a version of their most iconic shoe for every taste and people would know it’s an eS shoe.

Think the problem would be that the square ones were genuinely bad shoes. They got away with that shit back in 2006 but we'd had years of decent vulc shoes at that point and anyone that was going to go for a vulc was def not picking up the square one. Are the KSLs selling well? I thought I saw EmericaTM saying on here that they haven't been. That coupled with being expensive to produce is leading to them discontinuing. And if everyone likes them so much I'd think it's a good time to stock up on them since they're still available, plus at least one more colorway is coming out for the This Is Skateboarding anniversary.

Yeah, most G6 foam shoes aren’t selling well enough to continue keeping G6 around consistently or putting the foam in new shoes.

Are you sure about that? Michelin soles outlast pretty much every other brand's soles for longevity: durability, grip, and comfort. They don't go bald quickly and maintain superior grip for nearly the entirety of the sole's life. Almost every account of someone skating a Michelin sole, it lasts the life one to almost two lives of other shoes they skate (vulc or cup)

Another thing: SoleTech isn't the only company to mess up posting sample photos with a panel in a different color/pattern than production. Seems like it was somebody who didn't update the site photos from the sample photos to the production photos, which had the print on the navy toe. I'm not apologizing for es here but brands need to double check their listing photos/details better before launch

They were just trash. Es, emerica, Dvs, lakai, adio, almost no skate shoe company got it right for their first gen of vulcs (fallen, dc and supra the only ones I can think of that were kinda ok). It's prob a big reason why a bunch of older people immediately hate anything vulc to this day. I'd literally wear out all those shoes in a weekend both the upper and the the sole. And they still weren't the best vulcs at the time because classic vans were half the price with way better soles. You could also get Nike SB harbors and blazers

Square twos and other es with that sole is when es could make a decent vulc shoe. But no one wants any more es discussion so I'll leave it.

Not about Sole Tech, but about the variation in vulc quality I definitely have a strong memory of there being a few years where no one outside of Vans knew how to make a solid vulc sole, at least consistently.

My first vulc shoe I remember was a Kenny Reed’s kid top pro model and that was great but I bounced between vulc and cupsoles and it felt like a roll of the dice every time. Cupsoles were often super stiff with no board feel or noticeable protection. I had Vans’ wraps coming undone.

The last pair of vulcs I remember really being impressed by were Gravis Artos and the dylan. slip on (upper wasn’t great but the sole was good). Then my back starting falling apart and I’ve never looked back from cupsoles since.
