Soletech Fall 2023 catalogs are live

https://soletechnology-catalogues.cld.bz/etnies-Fall-23-Catalog
https://soletechnology-catalogues.cld.bz/eS-Fall-23-Catalog

Servold shoe is front and center for Emerica, which from the other thread seems the catalog isn't accurate on the release or design...

I like the Servold in White. But probably not for skating for my fragile ankles. But they would be nice for a day at the beach. The white KSL is also sick. But the KSL won't be continued? And is there a way to purchase specific Etnies insoles? I would like to try all of them and see which one I like the most.

That KSL from the This Is Skateboarding collection is live now: https://emerica.com/collections/footwear/products/ksl-g6-x-this-is-skateboarding-white-black-6102000139-110

Weird this out of date catalog is still all around the internet.

I’m more so irritated by the photo of Chomp On Kick’s éS collection. “Check out these past models that people covet to this day - anyway, here’s a bastardized K3!”
[close]

Shout out Scott stevens for getting an MC Rap colorway and not letting it be bastardized like the other color ways.

Was about to say the same. Not many "core" shoe brands have a bulkier high top cupsole in their line up. Most of the cw of the mc rap have been terrible plus I'm not a fan of that Lakai perforated holes all over look.  But this one is actually pleasant and might try them if I can at a decent price.

Also I really like the Aurelien shoe. It has a classic skate silhouette in that you can look at it and know that's a skate shoe. It sucks it's a fake "cupsole". No midsole just a good insole.
Alex Olson never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

Skate shop owners should charge this shoe rent for how long it’s going to be staying on their shelves

So adidas is just never giving us the silas1.

Man talk about a fall from grace. Adidas skateboarding seems to be on autopilot at this point.

Their team feels randomly assembled. Their video output is inconsistent. Their latest designs are clunky and bizarre. The ADV-ized classics (Samba, Gazelle, etc.) are going stale.

For all the hate brands like Emerica, Lakai, Vans get here recently, I’m surprised adidas is never in the conversation. The brand has no vision at this point.

I like the team, but from a product point of view they have been lacking vision for a minute. The adidas puig seems to be the last original interesting model. The Noras look good but are not really original.

Bic has sold the same lighter for fifty years. Maybe Adidas just knows they have a couple shoes that sell good no matter what and everytime they try something new it's generally not received that well

Apparently Palace consulted heavily on Lucas’s shoe, so maybe that’s why it’s an anomaly

Bic has sold the same lighter for fifty years. Maybe Adidas just knows they have a couple shoes that sell good no matter what and everytime they try something new it's generally not received that well

It's ironic because they pushed 4 iterations with the 3.st line and for the most part those shoes seemed to do well/were not a total flop at the time. Unless my memory is wrong but 3st.004 and the 3st.001 were really popular before Tyshawn's shoe dropped.

They do know what sells the best: busenitz, superstars, tyshawn, and select team models, so it makes sense they're steering more of their effort into those over being experimental like they were 5-7 years ago.

I also think Scott Johnston leaving and Adidas reshuffling their brand presence in the skateboard world via pulling out of shops is damaging their image, too. That's affected their direction significantly, imo.

Whatever is going on at corporate HQ is trickling down to surface level and negatively affecting their reception by us outside of their successful choices.

Speaking of which: the Abnormal Communication series with Adidas riders is the exact thing I enjoy from them. Gonz, Drake Johnson, Suciu, Maite, etc. all stacking clips in a city with some commentary satisfies my personal enjoyment. That's how I envisioned these big companies in skating. Put out good shoes, pay filmer(s) to stack clips of their incredible team, and put out rad edits from that. That's solid marketing/direction for sure.

Yeah but that’s a Thrasher/Gonz thing.   I don’t think it usually is Adidas oriented.   And Gonz comments were useless.

I think Adidas fell victim to chasing that Supreme/urban youth image right when it’s popularity was ending and it feels kinda niche rather than being on trend

2 Rereleases that could help adidas in my opinion:

The Silas - has been discussed a lot here and altough I never skated them, seem ahead of their time first time around

The norton low - If they do that no one off/limited edition, but keep it in the lineup in simple colours. And no superfat laces like these adimatics, just stick to the way they looked in the 90s.

Its a Thrasher/Adidas thing with Gonz heading the series. It's intentionally only Adidas riders in every episode that I've watched.

That makes a lot of sense, too. Chasing that dunk/Supreme/urban youth hype usually doesn't end well for brands. They execute it too late or miss the mark

I'm not an expert but if Scott Johnston left at the start of this year, all the current models and direction was planned when he was still working for adidas. I guess the "real" change (if something actually changes) will appear on the shelves around next summer.
