From the lakai Q2 24 Catalogue. Wilkins shoe looks better than expected but I don't get the Ludlow tbh.

I wonder if the midsole on that new ludlow shoe will have a real Eva midsole or if it’s another “cupsole”

i bought these XLTs from champs for $20 and turned them into bald dust.

If I remember correctly, they used that same sole on the GuyMar back in 2016, and it wasn’t bad.

It's a pretty similar shoe all around. (Not saying it's the exact same just similar. I know people hate the shoe a looks like shoe b talk) I think MJ's last shoe had a version with that sole too

Damn…so it sounds like another egg crate sole with a shitty insole. I skated some telford lows during the summer with the Atlantic sole and man were those thing’s were uncomfortable. Had to swap insoles immediately. Is it really that expensive to add a full Eva midsole to a shoe?

If it's anything like that shitty excuse of a sole on the Brighton, Terrace (sorry Griffin, shoe is great otherwise), first reissued Telfords, Manchester XLK, etc. then there's no hope for Lakai. However, if it's closer to the Atlantic sole but is a simple looking cup sole design like the original Manchester/Telford, I'm interested.

What is a 3/4 cupsole? If anything I would of guessed it's got a cutout in the arch where you can see the Eva but it doesn't mention any type of midsole. Either way it looks like a safety shoe.

Holy hell, those white suede Terraces are a thing of beauty.

But come to think of it, I haven’t heard anything about that shoe’s midsole (if any). The description only says “Advanced flexible XLK cupsole,” which doesn’t really explain much. Is there any type of foam throughout? Or is it simply an insole thrown on top of the sole?

Spot on with the safety shoe thing. The sole looks a little too thick (the same way a Nike AF1 sole looks too thick for skating to me) and the entire toe area is too chunky/thick looking. All that said, they still don’t look horrible to me. I don’t think I could wear them though.

They look like a weird amalgamation of the Cambridge and the Atlantic with some added beefiness that was completely unneeded.

Lakai puts out such thin slipper looking shoes anymore that all of the reasons you just described for not liking them are exactly why I like them. There's BODY to the shoe by the looks of it and it's reminiscent of shoes like these that they used to make. Ones where the toe panel didn't aggressively slope down into the sole and bubbled up above the sole.

Ludlow has exposed Eva midsole on the arch as stated before and would look so dope if it was on both sides ala the staple.
Wilkins is very clean in person and the sole is the same xlk they use on the Owen slip on.
Ludlow is almost right, the puff is real but not over done.
