I’ve never tried to like a shoe brand more than NB, tried on like different 5 models in at least 2 sizes each, and none felt comfortable. 440s would be great if the midfoot wasn’t way too narrow for me. The 1010 could’ve worked but the arch support felt like a golf ball. Is that arch support built in or would switching the insole to give you more of a flat Vans feeling?
I get the golf ball thing too. But I think it’s the actual sole that’s the reason for this. Not the insole.
its a combination of the two. The sole is a big part of it, but that wedge on the arch of the insole also contributes. a flat ortholite insole from a 508 or 440 fit well in the 1010 and make it a little flatter and less golf ball
That was my biggest gripe with the 1010s I owned and the 808 I tried on. Didn't matter if I sized up to alleviate space in the midfoot where the arch is, it was so aggressively uncomfortable with how much arch support they built in. My feet got fatigued from wearing the 1010s after a couple hours. Couldn't wait to take em off vibes

Personally, I find that the Joslin, Marana, and KSL fit and feel more comfortable than the Tiagos. Albeit, less shoe/less tech, but still comparable in quality/fit/comfort. Better for me, but not better across the board. I have medium-medium high ish arches so I don't need shoes that have a lot of arch support built in, since It's not collapsed. Are you somewhat similar in that area or no?
I guess that's why shoes with less heel drop and less aggressive (but still present) arch support feel better for me. I did try swapping insoles in my 1010s and it wasn't good enough :/
I've bought a decent number of NB# wanting to like them... only to sell most of what I owned. 213s were a fun shoe when I skated vulcs. The 358 Artos were sweet shoe, too. I've been interested in the 508 and 600 as those look to be more comparable to the soletech shoes I enjoy in terms of design, technology, thickness, look, etc.
