Yes, but does anyone remember the (sequence) add of EE doing switch flip tail slide down a fucking RAIL?
[close]

Wasn’t it just a still shot emerica ad for the black toe white back shoe? Were there two ads for the trick?
[close]
really? for some reason I remember it as a sequence but maybe it wasn't?
Either way, I thought they must have misprinted the trick name when I first saw it because it was just too tech-gnar!
I remember the sequence too. It might’ve been for a magazine article or the mini emerica zine that they used to put out. Just wanted to say you aren’t crazy.

I'm really curious to see this.

I had a friend who loved the dipped toe Ellington colorways, his clips looked pretty crazy but they did stand out.
I was more of an MJ1, Reynolds 2, Templeton 1 guy.

These just look like rock climbing shoes.. or approach shoes or whatever. They’re literally rock climbing shoes - how are they designed with skating in mind? Ain’t no one gonna re-sole their fucking skate shoes

99% sure that hartcopy is just paid placement. that being said, only other shoes I've seen laces like these on are hiking boots. they really are not very comfortable, I'm one of those guys who is always fidgeting when my laces feel off. A lowtop shoe with nine eyelets sounds like an absolute fucking nightmare. the solution is not more lace, but less. I get the feeling this was AI generated, because a resoleable skate shoe really doesn't make very much sense.

Hiking boots not being comfortable? You should get better ones then, cause the whole purpose of a hiking boot is to be comfortable during long hikes. The long af lacing is literally made like that so you can lace them tighter or loose in the toe area and have an even more customised fit at the toe area, avoiding blisters, have a better toe spread, etc…

Also you can tell this shoe was made to try a new look into skate shoes, a new aesthetic, not to be the best skate shoe ever. This reminds me the first time I saw the Gravis Rieder, that didn’t look like anything else in the skate landscape at the time and was daring/intriguing.

Edit: forgot to add the point about the re-solable part. Since this shoe is clearly taking the climbing shoe aesthetic with a skate point of view, one of the things about climbing shoes is that you can resole them with flat sheets of climbing rubber (sticky af compound). So my guess is that the foxing on this one can be replaced too if you want. It’s not that crazy of a concept.

i mean it's cool that it's hiking shoe inspired and shit but the laces are placed so close to the toe that you'll blow through them quickly if you actually flick your kickflips

As I said, they're not comfortable to me when personally I am always fidgeting with laces. That's a personal thing. You're going to blow through these laces so quickly, and probably the loop is going to get fucked too. It's a somewhat crazy concept when nobody has made a pair of resoleable skate shoes. I still think that to get a halfway decent resole you're going to need to go to a cobbler and that's probably going to run a minimum of $50. Even then, are you seriously going to want to keep the same shoes that long? I would rather just buy another shoe on sale. It's a concept, not really a business. Also I am not even talking about the appearance of the shoe, which is pretty fugly.

I like em.  Would be curious to see a wear test or something.  The sidewall rubber looks bulky and might affect the shoe flex.  Climbing is pretty popular right now so I could see a cross over.  Replaceable sole is wild.

New usually looks shocking and gross at first I’ve realized.

well It’s something different but I don’t think it’s ugly. As Skatan said, kinda gravis vibes mixed in with hiking/ climbing shoes. I guess I was also hoping they’d do a canvas version and that beefy sidewall would protect the rest of the shoe. Would look good in two-tone too (khaki canvas upper w/ black rubber) imho, maybe a bit of AREth (and airwalk NTS) DNA too which is perhaps why I don’t hate them… ?

I don't mind them either. More interested in how they perform and whether the sole replacement stuff is really viable because it would require an upper that's very durable to make it worthwhile.

Does anyone know when these drop?
