Why are all the straye soles like super huge?? They almost look like platforms

If I'm being honest... I was drinking pretty heavily one night years ago and bought a pair of Straye's on uber clearance for like $20 shipped. I still have them, I'm too embarrassed about this purchase to wear them, I think about this a lot.

I don't really support chain thrift stores much anymore, but I do have a little food pantry/home goods thing that people drop off random things at all the time. Like opened bags of cereal for wild animals and crusty jackets. I might make a trip in there later and drop those off with some Keurig cups someone gave me.

The point of this story is those high tops are less appealing than an open bag of generic cheerios from a stranger.

I also bought a pair of strayes years ago. A mystery box for less than 20 shipped. Got Hightops with black leopard print. Tried and failed to dye the whole shoe black. Print still showed. Dye made them look dark purple. They ran small so I never got too much wear out of them. Left them at the skatepark.

I think they were being hyperbolic with "platform" because the Straye vulc wrap is so thick and tall it looks like a platform shoe. It's even more egregious on the Muska ones than their other models.

Without any of us seeing them in hand, it's hard to know how low your foot sits on those or not.

Wait, isn’t muska already doing his own reissue through his company? Or did he scrap that idea and let angel and straye have it  so he could focus on his own stuff. All said I enjoy the muskaissance . If it gets him more money to do stuff with his farm I’m for it. But I’m also a guy who just really wants a farm.

Absolutely shocked (not) that finally there is a cupsole halfcab but Vans had to change the heel panel and layer weird highlights under the rest of the panels and even put ass contrast stitching on the label and dual colouring on the sole.

Basically “if we just put a different sole on these could sell like hotcakes as people asking for years… do everything in your power to ugly them up” seems to be the job description.

Corporate is so weird.

I got the Louie 2s. Looks good but after a few sessions like maybe  4-5  30 min sessions they are now work shoes and I’m back skating my old Rowan 2s. Something about the touies just wasn’t hitting.  The soles feel super hard and in those few sessions about 30min each the suede toe cap started to frey where the stitches are. But my biggest issue was they just never felt comfy and my flick was just off. All personal stuff could be fine for someone else. But for me they just was missing something.
