those came out super sick!
but that reflection is preventing me from reading properly. Tahoe Paues?
I've always wanted to be able to make that 60s/70s acid trippy font look right, but everytime I try it, it either goes too far "graffito" style, or too wavy and illegible.

Finally finished it. final materials used are spray paint, ink and stamps, sharpie, woodstain, masking tape and pencil.
Heres a couple of pictures of this special lady poolside.

These are extra good.  Thanks for sharing, and Happy Birthday.

without seeing it, wouldn't know where to start giving you tips for next time.
post up what you've got when you can, but in the mean time, just keep working on ideas, don't be afraid to try stuff, and the more you do wrong, the more you'll learn.

heres the first series of 5 cruiser decks I'm going to be making into Carpet topped cruisers. I just made a trail run at one of them with the contact cement I got and a section of some outdoor carpet. Its still curing at the moment, and I need to cut off the excess and burn the edges in (kind of like gripping a normal board, but instead of using the left over grip to grind down the edges of your grip so it won't peel up, I'll have to use my woodburner with a flat tipped blade to singe the edges of the carpet to make sure it doesn't peel up from its own rubber base)
the two shapes on the left I think are my favorite of the bunch, they're only 24" long, but they seem like with the right wheels and trucks they'll be a pretty fun ride.

and as I already mentioned in a few other threads on here, the contest thingy I threw yesterday with that weird rainbow box went really well. I already sold 2 of the boards I made, and the shop still hasn't even hung the cabinet display piece yet! I'm psyched!

thanks man, yeah that one is one of the ones they're selling at the shop. I have a feeling it might have been one of the ones that already sold the first day too. pretty psyched.

Time to check on the prototype carpet cruiser and post an update after I've finished it.

Oh boy...!

Sweatercuff, I'm so in awe.

The Special Lady deck went really good.
And those cruiser shapes look amazing. Please, tell us how the carpet work once you've to try one.

Congrats on the rainbow box contest outcome and the selling of your boards...
You're onto something really good.

thanks for the kind words cosme! im psyched you're psyched.

Still haven't gotten around to fully setting one of these up just yet, but it seems like the carpet will work just fine for cruising purposes.
It was so hot yesterday that I stayed up until 1 am in the garage working on these things just so i could avoid the mid-day las vegas heat for a minute.

After this payload of carpet cruisers, I'm planning on doing one more smaller batch of 4, cause I want to send a couple to some shops back east, and I offered to give Karl Watson on the forums here one.
I figure maybe it was about time that someone GIVE HIM a board rather than asking for one from him. I bet that request gets really annoying at times.

my god, those smaller ones look pretty close to perfect. that carpet-top thing is awesome too! is it grippy eneough to allow minor ollies up the curb and stuff? i guess so.

good luck with your stuff, though i dont think that you might need it, your work speaks for itself.

One of those super good Japanese guys had a video with carpet grip.  Gou Miyagi.  Just spent 20 minutes looking for it.  No dice.

But you can do anything you want on it.  Like skateing canvas shoes for more than 2 days.

Love the way the 2nd and 3rd decks look.

Also is your cabinet company sponsoring? My toothbrush would fit well in it.

ha ha, while I enjoy your toothbrush comment (right now its giving me an idea for a graphic, so thanks), no I am not sponsoring anybody at this time. The Cabinet at this point is still just an excuse to get me to be more productive and make more boards in a way that can also pay for itself. I'm thinking of it as an anti-company at the moment. No staff, no real advertisement, no team, no licenses or legal mumbojumbo. I just want to make things on boards and send them out into the world. I'd love for someday to make graphics for a legit company or something, but for the time being, I'm really just enjoying trying this stuff out, exploring new mediums, and building my portfolio.

on that note, I had a very brief talk with a buddy the other day, and I might be working on some shirts to sell in the future as well.

Cut this cruiser out of an old board. Threw a crappy little paint job on it.

Long time ago my dad garbage picked me a board as a joke. It was a k-mart skateboard/scooter thing with plastic trucks and wheels with a police car graphic on top that kept flaking.
Few months ago I took a sander to it, painted it black, threw some indys on it, and let it get dusty.
Fuck sorry if the picture is huge.

2nd coffee fetcher done. getting a little sloppy and lazy.

and this super shitty quick graphic i threw on a blank before setting it up cause my other "normal" skateboard got a nasty chip out of the nose and has considerably less pop than it did 2 months ago. I just needed something on there other than blank wood.

Inspired by sweatercuff, I went and got some carpet and Liquid Nails to regrip a second hand deck last year I got after the grip started bubbling up.  Minor problem being that the carpet isn't long enough so it's either chop up the carpet and get creative with placement or maybe just use the piece as is and use leftover grip for the edges.

Too lazy to cut the board shorter at the moment.

good luck with the liquid nails. I'm not sure if that'll lay as flat as the contact cement stuff I'm using, or hold as well, but if it does let me know cause that'd be a way cheaper, and less crazy flammable way to make these things.

and as far as the lack of carpet length, just get creative with the placement like you said. and dont forget to burn the edges. I use a woodburner just cause it has a flat blade and lets you easily melt the fibers and the rubber bottom layer all together into the board, so there's no peeling possible, but even a lighter should be able to kinda do what you need it to, just a little less exact and more strain on the thumbs.
