Skated 45 miles with Bobby Worrest and Zach Lyons and many more. I truly feel like I can do anything now. That was the gnarliest test of our endurance ;D
[close]

that's insane! i start pushing back and forth between regular and switch after a mile or so, i can't even imagine doing 45.
LOL! Thats totally what Zach did the whole time and I was so envious of that because I cant push switch if my life depended on it. Now I cant even walk because my pushing leg is sore as heck. I've got to learn how to push switch but its hard to teach an old dog new tricks  :)

I'm 38 & I learned switch pushes this last year, Karl.: )

Today was all about just filming other people. I'm nursing a dislocated elbow at the moment, so I can push around and do simple tricks, but if I fall I can't put my hands out, so I'm basically fucked if I go down for any reason.

But it was awesome to just get out in the sun and help my homies get some footage. And after 2 weeks off the board, just being able to push around and do 180 ollies is fucking heaven. Perfect day.

Yesterday homies from all over Louisiana and Mississippi came out to our park for our 4th annual Big Mike Day (Big Mike was a figurehead in our community, long time 70's era skate rat that never quit rolling). Yesterday's was one of the best... basically a big skate family reunion, and anyone there you don't know you just treat/get treated as if they're your best friend. Brews and grills were on, too.

Today, I'm enjoying being sore but not injured. I like the day after a hard session when I'm beat up a little bit. Reminds me that I'm still paying dues and still enjoying shit that would seriously hurt most of my other mids 30s office coworkers. haha

Got hyped on some cruising lines at the park, ollied over some bottle over a drop, aired the deathbox, kickflipped into this bank, did a nollie flip, aired the spine, did a no comply on the bank only to flop a nosegrind. Fun shit anyway.

Trying to skate switch all the way.  Who would have thought throwing down your board could be so hard?  I really need to break the switch mongo habit.

Realized I'm a soft ass park dweller when I saw a young dude drinking beer and skating flat right outside the mall entrance.  I was out for my first real street sesh in too long and buddy asked if I wanted to play skate, funnest game in recent memory.  I have no clue how we skated there half an hour when usually there's security everywhere.

I was also saved by the magic of Indy trucks today, when I curved on a dime in front of a truck speeding through a tree filled parking lot.

Catching a nicely flicked b/s flip, then pivoting around..  nothing comes close to that magic of the flat ground!

skated tranny for the first time in fucking ages
when the ramps came to be closed my mates had to lock them up by locking a chain over them so they couldnt be skated, so this turned into a "trick over the chain to manny the flatbottom and drop off the side" seshion
learnt a few more tricks
beautifull weather
ooh, just as we were leaving the ramps some redbull girls showed up out of nowhere and gave us drinks

in the past two years the only time ive seriously been skating was last summer, so more or less today was one of the first times skating in a long ass time.  Cruised around, felt good to just be riding.  I crooked a little ledge and did some chinese nollies going down the sidewalk, I think that might be my favorite "trick."

cutty shit. I live downtown in LA, and there is a lot of perfect ledges and stairs and shit, so its easy to get caught up in that. I skated a bunch of shit today, but the top spots were a 3 stair next to a wall I wallrid down, and a sidewalk bump to traffic cone, just ollieing off the bump and feeling it boost me over the cone felt so good. I probably skated a good 5-10 miles just going from spot to spot noticing shit I haven't really skated before. Got home and was exhausted in the most satisfying way.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out
