Its good. Fukn stressful.

Only tiny tiny gripe (that I'm willing to even cop as my own fault/user error) is it's one of those shows where the dialogue is really quiet and then something like a car drives past or the backing music kicks in and completely blows out the tv speakers. (And yes I've tried changing all the settings)

Oh damn.  Wish I could help with that.  Didn’t have that same issue

Very glad I didn’t watch any ads for it bc it was fun trying to figure what the show was going to be.   Even after these two eps, don’t know what’s coming next but I’m pumped.

“ZOM 100 - Bucket list of the dead” is so cool. Shame it’s only one ep per week.

the show ‘beef’ is really good. it’s only one season so far. it’s definitely worth watching if you enjoy dark humor/drama.

The Jewel Thief on Hulu is an amazing doc.   Guy looks like the missing Kid in the Hall

My partner and I binged Yellowjackets (on Paramount+ through Amazon Prime). Brutal depiction of what I imagine it would be like to survive a plane crash and have to face the dangers of the forest. Very graphic in terms of violence and well written for the most part. Cast has a few notable names, but Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis are standout in this.

Was good, the dramatization of when he stole the cop car had me in stitches

Yall fuckin with the new black mirror season?

I'm pissed I spent an hour 20 to watch an obvious resolution unfold with nothing extra.   As usual I'm just gonna go back to rewatching the twilight zone
[close]

I watched it over this weekend and I loved it

My favourite was the one with Aaron Paul due to the shock factor - fuck humans

But.... the Mazey Day episode has a special place in my heart lol who knew it would close out like that

my wife and i are watching it now. agree the episode with Aaron was so good. Very original premise and super dark. My least favorite was the Mazey Day episode but mostly because it just wasn't as original as the others. it was really well made and enjoyable though. i also like the "____ is awful" episode, hilarious.

Wife and I started watching "Shrinking" last night. Super good. I want to be friends with Derek.

Final Season of How to with John Wilson just started.   Arguably the greatest filmer in NY named John Wilson and I know that’s saying something

Res Dogs and Dark Winds on at the same time for some Res double featuring.

I’d like to think Eliza Coupe met Billy Marks through being on set with Fabian Alomar in S1

There’s no way Fabian has any idea who Billy Marks is 🤣 I had to look up what you’re talking about though, good for him, seems like he ditched the beanie too.

My wife got me into watching What We Do in the Shadows. Hilarious show and Matt Berry kills it. Plus I got a lil crush on the actress that plays Nadja.

Check out Stath Let’s Flats on Max.   British show her brother (and maybe her) wrote, but she’s definitely in it

I appreciate Shadows still feels pretty fresh

just watched this without knowing what it was. 10 episode limited season, not sure they're making more

totally insane but recommended. if ur down with movies like "dirty work", and more recent tv like "barry" this will be up your alley

The jury is actually pretty sick….I’m enjoying it,  I was on jury duty for a month and it’s pretty accurate…despite the fact they are ‘actors’

It’s funny the judge is Ike Barinholtz dad.  Resemblance is there once you see it (Ike might be a name you need to google, but probably familiar if you watch comedies)

Dunno if it’s on Netflix (pirate bay for me) but the second season of Good Omens is an absolute delight.

This may be a dumb question, but with all of the union writers on strike, do streaming services buy screenplays/scripts from scabs?  Also, are any big production companies attempting to shoot with non-union actors?

Nah it's all effectively shut down outside of Reality. Of course Reality is a huge piece of the pie and for the most part the big media companies (who all own the streaming services) have been able to coast along with they had already completed. My buddy works in post and I've hung out with him once this Summer because he is cranking through Reality and Documentary content.

Here's what was going on prior to SAG AFTRA joining the strike. Now it's mostly all just shut down:

You can shoot projects for companies that aren’t represented by the AMPTP.   For example. A24 isn’t represented by them, so they can still shoot and will likely have received a waiver from the unions to do whatever they need to do, same with low budget/actual indie films.

No studio is going to buy scab screenplays for one main reason: they will not even look at a script that isn’t submitted by an agent, manager, entertainment lawyer and no one worth their salt is going to jeopardize their career to do that.   The strike won’t last long enough to go through the development process anyway, so they’d dump it when a deal was made
