this Friday - HIT MAN on Netflix has been getting a lot of hype.   It's Richard Linklatter's new film with nü-Iceman from Top Gun 2

Was fucking good, loved every minute of it and our boy Austin killed it

Did you guys watch the trailer first?

Not trying to hate on the movie but I gotta say I was annoyed with it. The last couple weeks been getting bombarded with the trailer which is a quick punchy cut of the guy in all his disguises and it's like "hilarious" "outrageously funny" " genius" and that's really not what the movie is about at all.
Obvs that's nothing new and I should have known it would be different being a linklatter but still the whole disguises thing does not matter to the movie at all and that's the entire advertising.

Those netflix trailers are weird It almost never really tells me about what I am about to watch...I dont know if you caught Eric, but that trailer was nothing like what I imaged after finishing it.   Also I have been limiting my time on streaming so I load netflix for 1 -2 days a week...I also use Hulu, Max, and Prime so I didn't see the trailers as much as you had

On the topic of trailers I am not sure if it happens to you guys but Ill get different trailers depending on where load a movie or show

Huge fan of Linklater but thought Hit Man was pretty meh. Fun for the most part and Glenn and Austin crushed their roles but the story itself and ending just fell flat for me.  I loved Everybody Wants Some (both dudes in it too) so I had some higher hopes

No but it’s on my list.

I’m watching 6 schizophrenic brothers. It’s really well done.

Was it just those 3 eps?
I had kinda gone off that type of show but I liked it. Kinda interesting how everyone's acting at the same time as its meant to be really happening. (I guess many shows have done this but I liked it more here). I guess I'm too dumb cos I couldn't figure out like how is the popcorn guy or the gyro cooker supposed to be buying this whole theme park. Guess it doesn't matter.

renfaire didn't look interesting to me, but I really enjoyed hacks on Max shit was surprisingly funny and all around good story

I am almost done with that netflix documentary on the Nuremberg trials...it looks like they used some AI and rendered all the video into HD with color.  Highly recommend

Ren Faire is like Game of Thrones/Succession through the lens of King of the Hill type Texans.   If it helps, the Safdie Bros produced it

I just finished Ripley last night and really enjoyed it. I was mesmerized throughout it just because of the beautiful cinematography. I like the slow burn pace of it too. There were a couple things in the last 2 episodes that I didn't love, but overall I thought it was a great watch.

Having someone hand you a pen to sign something and then pulling out your own would be badass.

It’s 3 eps.  It’s not a huge commitment.

Pumped for House of the Dragon, as well

Boys S4 just started as well

So at the end of the day was Gen V essential to The Boys storyline? I kinda think it was but I guess the exposition in The Boys s4 covered what we need to know so far. Gen V was mixed to me because I came away really liking nearly all of the characters but it ends so abruptly and then switches back to main show bizness. Felt like a bit of a cop out ending. They seem very committed to doing the whole storyline as it was written in the comics but I would be down to see original stories with the Gen V gang. There's gotta be some other talented writer working today that hates superheroes and would love to write a show that treats them so bad.

My main complaint is that it never actually felt like a superhero school show.   It was just same stuff they cover on the Boys with finding a mysterious lab and it’s patients, etc.   but just a cursory amount of school stuff.    The post credit scene with Butcher felt like a shrug to me, but I assume it’ll get tied in soon with whatever they were cooking up in that lab.    (Haven’t seen the new eps of Boys yet)

Main Boys is ending after S5 but I know Amazon and the creatives have related irons cooking in the fire

Any opinions on new BH Cop movie?   Thought it was the second best one, which doesn’t mean much.

Huge fan of the first but had no plans to watch the new one. Does it manage to partially bring back that og charm or is it doing something totally new?

You guys don’t dig the second film at all?  It’s not the original but it has its charms and Tony Scott’s action directing is a delight.  If you think the new one’s half as good I’m stoked for it!

I like Tony Scott’s direction a lot more and think he basically created Bad Boys 1 and 2 with that - but I do think it’s basically the same movie as the first one beat by beat.   Definitely incorporates the Axel F score better

#4 is not good nor great, but I didn’t find it embarrassing like a movie like that should be (see Comimg to America 2).   But I’m also not emotionally attached to the franchise at all so I don’t have anything at stake

Serial Mom by John Waters is currently on Netflix. It’s probably my favorite of his films.

Ohh I forgot (if I ever knew) that was John Waters.  I’ll watch it now
