Enjoying Talamasca on AMC+ so far.  It’s part of the Anne Rice/Interview With the Vampire TV Universe.   Only complaint is the the lead actor is a dead ringer for the Turnstile lead singer and it’s very distracting

GBG isn't the finale. Moonlight Mile is, it's set about 12 years after GBG, then there's another in between the two. If nothing else, I think Bubba deserves better treatment than what he got in GBG.

I was on a Dennis Lehane kick a few years back and thought they were really solid, entertaining books. GBG, Mystic River, Shutter Island, (maybe one or two more?). Read Moonlight Mile earlier this year and kind of hated it. I don’t know if it’s objectively worse or if I got sick of the style or those particular characters or what.

Charlie Giteau done shot down a good man.

Anyone watching Physical:Asia on Netflix. As a fan of physical 100, it's awesome seeing other countries competing.

I’m halfway through Last Samurai Standing on Netflix. I’m enjoying it so far. It’s very Rurouni Kenshin-esque but doesn’t feel as cheesy as that live-action adaptation.

God I wish the dub voices weren’t so shit.   Nothing against subtitles, just wish I could opt out sometimes

I like a lot of historical contexts of the Zaibatsu and the Japanese government.  Fight scenes from episode 1 is top notch

The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle was a good watch. Natasha Lyonne without heavy chain smoker voice threw me for minute though.

New Frankenstein movie on Netflix by Guillermo Del Toro is pretty great. A lot more serious vibe with this gothic/victorian style.

Also season 2 of the Vince staples show is solid.

Stranger Things season 5 dropped a couple days ago, almost finished the first episode it’s unfolding nicely.

Have a soft spot for this show because the kids are almost exactly my age during that time in the 80s when I was in high school.

“Karen, with her wine.”  Hilarious. You’ll get to it soon. Sp far I’m liking season 5 (I’ve watched all that’s been released so far).

Anyone else watching Welcome to Derry / IT?

Im not really feeling this latest season...the last episode was pretty good but there was a lot of scripted things that just made most of it forgettable ...hopefully the 2nd half will deliver

Oh I didn’t realize the first half of the season was only 4 episodes, I was guessing like 6 or more, 4 eps binged in one day is pretty normal it goes by quick.

I thought there were all supposed to be like 4 2.5 hour movies released every couple of weeks

Gave it a watch and definitely enjoyed it. Joel Edgerton is always great.  Story kinda just felt like the average life of an NPC in RDR2 but that's part of what I enjoyed

Just finished Last Samurai Standing, pretty rad.

Season 2 "not confirmed but likely".

The creator was quoted saying what he's hoping for...
Quote
Two or three seasons. However, sometimes future seasons happen two or three years later, and viewers forget what happened in the past. Because I'm a fan of Netflix, I try to convey as much as I can in one season. I like to do as much as possible. If we could conclude the whole story with another season, I think that's our mission.”

Fujii touches on a frequent problem with Netflix, or really most streaming services, where 2-3 year waits between seasons can sometimes kill momentum for even once-liked series. But he maintains that he wants at least one more season

I agree with this so hard.
It's very common that season 2 of a show will finally drop and my girl and I will be like "we watched that right? Oh yeah, we really, really liked it! What was it about again?"
Then we'll try to start watching it and it'll be like "Who are these people again? I barely remember any of this" and we either give up on the show or have to watch all of season 1 over again.
