that image was the first thing i ever saw of anti hero years and years ago. before there actually was an anti hero  somebody, probably  julian or one of the dlx art dudes back in the day made a bunch of xerox stickers on bright orange sticker paper. real budget shit. i think there was a few different ones but i remember this one because i had it. one of my homies was working shipping at that time and brought a bunch home with him one day. talking about how it was gonna be the dlx company and shit. i dont know why they waited 15 years to run it as an ad but that shit is old old old.

I don't find this offensive.  They aren't mocking the monk in the image.  They are identifying with the monk's protest against the Chinese establishment.  And I don't think Rage Against the Machine has a marketing agenda like a corporation.

If you can compare singing songs about sticking it to the man to setting yourself on fire for a cause? I don't know.

Also, here's a question for everyone giving Anti Hero a thumbs up. 

How would you feel if Anti Hero used a personal misfortune of yours as a marketing piece?  A photo of your friend with his brains on the sidewalk or a snapshot of you and your family huddled outside in front of the burning pile of rubble that was your house. 


These are real people that don't deserve to be ridiculed for their pain and suffering.

I've bitten my tongue on this but as I feel anti hero represent a really lost attitude to skating as in not taking themselves seriously and having really great marketing this ad is just so sloppy. We can all agree how good that new video is for the pigeon series of boards and most anti hero ads are so cleaver and a great commentary on skateboarding. I think this is just laziness from their part and maybe just a dull week.
Its actually an awful ad, everything about it is fucked. I love a controversial well timed ad but something like this is so sloppy with no thought and just a blatant grab overstepping the mark. Dont fuck with innocent kids in a weird weak attempt to seem edgy cool and really ruin a brand.
This thread has attracted five pages of bickering and anti hero have always held a consensus with skateboarders that they are just cool.
This ad is not cool, its weak, and they for the first time in quite a while wont be getting my support.

o yea naked suffering kids whoose parents prob just got excecuted in front of them is controversial, so is taking a pic of the bodies bein burned during the holocaust or better yet a severed hand from 9/11.. theres crossing the line and crust punk is a subculture and listening to punk and being about it is way less exploited than in a skate magazine u can buy at barns and noble..
