This whole thing is still hard to process for me as a lifetime Laker fan, I'm still shocked.  I got some friends (Cliff) who are pissed about it, but I'm fucking 100% hyped.  They basically traded AD at his absolute PEAK trade value.  He's been so good and durable these last 2+ years so I think he's sitting at the highest you're ever going to see his value to anyone in the league.  It's possible this works out for both teams, but only if the Mavs can capitalize and win a chip in the next 1-3 years.  Their window seems very short to make it happen as him and Kyrie are so good but definitely not on the frontside of those careers.  But if AD goes down (I hope to god he stays healthy and kills it but it's a possibility) then it'll be a HORRIBLE trade blunder.
I'm just hyped we got a dude like Luka who is a killer, who has a good chunk of "Fuck You" attitude when pushed like his beef with Book and the Suns.  It's something you can't teach, that killer instinct.  That's my big rant from someone who's been die-hard since Magic showed up in 79 and I was 7 years old.
I also fully understand the Laker hate because they always seem to fall into this kind of shit.

Not to mention they traded Luka and gave him a chip on his shoulder in the process

it wont ever make sense
this is chernobyl in dallas, it ruined the franchise

It is, the culture was loyalty and to stick with your guy, Dirk had so many highs and lows but we stayed loyal and so did he and we won a championship. We get Luka, honestly a once in a lifetime chance to have Dirk pass the torch to the next face of the franchise who shares the same loyal sentiment as the star before him and you fucking trade him to our rivals for lesser value behind his back mid season. Nico ruined our culture and our franchise, we could win 3 championships with Nico at the helm but it would never mean as much as winning 1 with Luka, he was our team and he embraced Texas with his whole heart and we embraced him. Next to Dirk and Duncan you could argue he was the most cherished athlete in Texas History. That was our fucking guy with the most Motherfucker I’ve ever seen a European have and you stabbed him in the back to prove a point, it honestly ruins sports for all of the community.

And if the Cowboys weren’t enough.

I have cousins in Dallas that I normally enjoy ribbing, but i wouldn't wish this on any fan... damn rug pulled from out under the feet. The fact he had no idea about the trade speaks volumes. We will most likely never see anything like this in our lifetimes...

Yeah… was? At the moment I feel like saying fuck it im out. As you said, they pull off the incredible feat of finding a credible successor to Dirk with a similar sense of loyalty to build around, so they have a chance to remain at least somewhat special among all the mercenary teams out there, and then they throw it all away!

Yea but those were the MArk Cuban days.   Need I say again they are majority owned by Sheldon Adelson (bankroller of GOP pres candidates) ‘s daughter.   The franchise was tainted from then and and only bad fruit comes to bear from then

What I'll say about Wiggins is that he's alot like Jimmy, a hustler on both ends of the floor. I can't remember the last time I've seen him take a play off. There has been a lot of talk about his decline since the 22 ship but from what I understand he was a bit mentally checked due to his father's illness and ultimately his passing. As of late he's been playing a lot more consistent and has even carried us some games when Curry and the younger guys had been slumping. I wholeheartedly believe he'll flourish under Spo and Pat's system. I'm excited about Jimmy being on board for the next couple years, he's been a favorite of mine for awhile.

To me the lakers were always a team based in entitlement, to sit in the lower bowl you have to be entitled, to get Shaq handed to you, gasol handed to you, Chris Paul (almost) handed to you, Dwight Howard handed to you, LeBron handed to you, AD handed to you, to drafting Bronny when lord knows he ain’t close to a nba player and now Luka handed to you, what suffering or character building has this franchise ever gone threw?

I understand it’s your hometown team and I understand why you’d be a fan, I fuck with you based off our interactions off here, this ain’t against you, but the Lakers can’t ever not be corny to me after this.

I heard on Bill Simmons show,  De'aaron is left handed and Wemby right... that's about as easy as a lob as it'll get. Im so bummed the rockets didn't push for Fox harder. They're one of the worst 4th quarter teams in the league with no "closer". While he's scored the most points in the 4th the last two seasons lol and only 27.

I agree, when you read what Kobe did in the court file it paints the entire situation very clearly and it’s disgusting. I was never a fan, I had friends who’d call him “Colorado Kobe” when we were younger even though joking about it to me is gross.

I will say Luka is known around Dallas for excessive hooka, eating steak 3-5 times a week, and fairly heavy drinking. But he was also known as a really respectable and loved individual, he does a lot of charity work, like a lot. And generally ever story I’ve heard about him from people I know in the service industry (Dwight Powell made my homies ex cry) or otherwise back home is he treats everyone from the janitor, to an owner with the same respect.

Go buy a 77 lakers jersey (as sick as it makes me) beyond basketball you guys really got a decent human.

Ben Simmons to Clippers.   It’ll be nice throwback to have a major draft busts on their team again
