Damn the Nugs fired Moach  :'(

Hope he goes on to be successful elsewhere and still happy the way 2023 ended.

Man, I really fuckin hate the Kroenkes. Giving up on the season with like 3 games left to go? I'm at least happy they fired Booth too he really fucked up the roster. Not sure what we're hoping for this postseason but surely firing the coach right before the playoffs wasn't the right move.

Damn, first the Grizzlies fired their coach and then this?   Can’t see the value in doing either so close to the playoffs when you’re actually in a decent position.  Malone will have another job as soon as he wants another job.

I've been trying to wrap my head around it all morning (and still recovering from the cougars blowing it last night...). You'd think winning a chip would net you a fair amount of leeway... i mean look at doc rivers. Coach can't control players under performing..

The grizzlies, while i don't agree with it either so late in the season, the culture there seems like a mess. Players fighting on the bench amongst other things...

Lost locker room or not, Malone will be an asset to any staff. He'll be a hot commodity this off season i imagine.

Royal organizational fuckups from both Dallas and Denver, one season after one reached the finals and two after the other won the title? You can't make that shit up. I feel like quitting the NBA altogether.

You’re not secretly hoping for a first round exit to justify firing Lue and bringing on Malone?

I really don’t know what to think. Both teams seemed to be perfectly fine to me, more than fine in fact, both true contenders. I mean I can’t see behind the scenes obviously but I don’t get why you’d want to mess with that? With the Grizzlies I can see it kind of, even though the timing there was also really weird.
Of course you’re right, Malone will have a high profile job again very soon. It’s just that it won’t be with the Nuggets.

As a Knicks fan, I wholeheartedly believe they should move on from Thibs after the second round exit that's surely coming and jump at this opportunity, if Malone even stays on the market that long. Thibs has done a tremendous job turning this franchise around and making it respectable again, but while he's great at making a team good, he's not good at making a team great. 0-9 against the great teams isn't a fluke, it's what happens when the coach burns himself out preparing for a Hornets game in February and has no juice left for the games that actually matter.

That’s who I secretly think he’ll go to.  I don’t think someone of his caliber will necessarily settle for a Suns or a lottery pick.   Suns wouldn’t necessarily be terrible, but they just seem stuck financially unless someone owes them a favor and lets Beal accept being traded.

I’m a little surprised Thibs lasted that long.  Hes got that pat Riley side to him where like you said he’ll run his teams into the ground but without Riley’s charisma to keep them all on board (not issue so far it seems)  Malone also has connections to the franchise.

Mikal Bridges already spoke to Thibs about the workload of the starters a month or so ago (on the day he hit the buzzer beating game winner against the Blazers). I don't think national media covered it much, but it was definitely a thing. Of course it didn't change anything as Thibs is gonna thib. I really don't want to be ungrateful, he definitely deserves tons of credit for bringing the team to where it is now. But I think it's clear as day he's not the kind of coach to get a team over the top because he's too stuck in his ways. Like, there's games when Brunson is guarded by Dyson Daniels and takes 28 shots while the Hawks hide Trae Young on Bridges who gets 6 shots in 41 minutes. Stuff like that can't happen if you want to win a title, you gotta take advantage of what the opponent gives you instead of just stubbornly running your system. Especially in the playoffs. I think Malone would get considerably more out of the roster the Knicks have. And he's a native New Yorker, which the fan base will eat up. Almost seems to good to be true, really.

I love Brunson but the Pistons have been the best story in the NBA this season. Should be interesting! Knicks in 6.

first time in awhile I'm actually excited/interested in the playoffs. every matchup in the west gonna be a dawg fight (except OKC spanking whoever's the 8 seed) Luka + bron really rejuvenated the league. jimmy on the Dubs too. I'm pretty confident it's gonna be OKC v Boston. with Boston probably winning in 6 or 7  :(

I'm a big SGA and OKC fan but Jokic should be MVP. I said it.

100%... Jokic having better numbers than his own prior mvp campaigns.

SGA is deserving no doubt, but Denver would probably be a lottery team without joker. Russ won it as the 7th ? Or 6th seed years ago his triple dub season.

yep. Jokic boutta be the first player ever to be top 3 in the big 3 categories (pts, asts, rebs) i'm also pretty sure Denver's net rating is top 3 (i may be wrong) with him on the floor and bottom 3 (again i may be wrong) with him off the floor.... MVP

It's pretty night and day... still crazy the coach got fired because the GM sat pretty in the off season and didn't surround Jokic with a better supporting cast it seems..

The most excited I've been for the playoffs in forever. Probably because the rockets made the dance.. not expecting a deep run, but I'd be shocked if they get beat in the 1st round. Even the East has fun matchups..

Detroit took 3 of 4 in the regular season and the Knicks are ending the season on a downward trajectory but if they have everyone healthy and available I like the Knicks in a close one 4-2.

I’m a Knick fan and hope Brunson and KAT go off and do what they’re capable of, hopefully they handle business.
Also I don’t care for Detroit except for the best skateboarder in the NBA Dennis Schroeder, shout out to his frontside flip.

The winner of this series most likely plays Boston or Cleveland next and the Knicks got swept by both in the regular season so that’s not ideal, but playoffs can be a whole different beast and hopefully they would be competitive at the very least.

If I'm the Knicks, I'm already on the phone with Mike Malone... what he did with Jokic, could take KATs game even further.

Adelman keeping MPJ out of the end of the Grizzlies game was the spark that gave them the win, he’s also ok benching Russ when he gets happy feet. I’m likin what I’m seeing.

Still sad for Moach but I am ok with moving on, maybe they’ll get somewhere this postseason. With Deandre Jordan as the only backup but it’ll be tough, but Jokic is playing lights out and has the ability to make a run.

The Adelman lineage is the truth... in good hands. His pops was one of my favorite coaches we had here. Took a scrappy Yao and tmac-less rockets team and pushed the eventual champion lakers to a game 7 in the 2009 semis.

Pretty much with you but I could also see the grizzlies winning the first game against warriors because of age/health reasons.

The Warriors have been playing great though, and the Grizzlies were one of my disappointments of the season. Thought they might do something this year.
