I don’t care what led up to this , this is some bullshit and anybody else gets a flagrant 1 but the league’s wonder boy gets no call whatsoever.

^yeah. NYK are obviously getting very physical with Wemby and locking his arms up. I’m sure he’s getting frustrated with getting beat up every game, but that’s clearly a flagrant. Not like the Naz Reid flagrant 2, but still.

Brunson getting the flagrant here is sus.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZWbgNgtx5k/?igsh=bzF2MGZxZzVxMnZl

The Castle shuv being a common foul seemed fair. It’s hard to tell from the front, but I really can’t see that Fox offensive foul on Robinson saying he got pushed into Wemby. 6 man on the court should have been a tech. So many weird calls.

This tech on Kornett was also stupid

The Castle Actually Finishing at the Rim Game.

Additionally,
The East Chickentown Picayune wishes to publish the following correction:
When sports columnist Jed “Toots” McDeedle wrote on Monday, “time to go into Villain Mode,” that did NOT mean, “throw dudes to the ground by their head.”
The Picayune apologizes for any confusion.

Michael Bloomberg looking absolutely mortified is my favorite pic from the game.

umm...
OG is a fucking marksman. is he a free agent next year?
I was for sure thinking it was going into overtime cause of him.

i know calls have been mentioned here and some solid takes.

but i didnt see where someone mentioned how much Castle was getting fouled.
during a few drives he would get fouled by two different knicks, same take to the hoop, no call.

consistency on both ends is what real heads wanna see. IMO.

Knicks played the same (with the exception of KAT. not sure what that guy was doing. no heat from beyond the arc yet he was still shooting them), Spurs played better than games 1 and 2. I think they continue.
a lot of hoop left to play.

pretty crappy what happen in the streets after the game. kinda sad, but its part of the human condition i suppose.

oh, and I think Brunson threw himself back when Castle ran into him. was that not obvious?

Seriously. KAT with 0 points in Q4 games 1-3. Dude needs to stop playing like he has a tribal heart tramp stamp.

re: KAT: Perception is a funny thing, isn't it? KAT took a whopping two (2) threes in game 3. That's too few attempts for a 40% career shooter, not too many. 7 of his 10 shots came in the paint. He missed some bunnies and had a bad game, but in no way did he just chuck threes.

Zero points in 3 fourth quarters is obviously a problem, but that's only partially his fault. Of course he simply has to make some shots, no doubt about it. But the bigger problem is that only 16% of his field goals in this series (6/37) were attempted in the fourth quarters because the Knicks actively avoid featuring him in the fourth. I strongly disagree with this approach, but Mike Brown has made it very clear that he wants Jalen to play iso ball at the end of games. His reasoning is that the most important thing in close games is to avoid turnovers. He thinks having his undersized point guard bring the ball up against elite ball pressure and shoot one highly-contested jumper after another yields better outcomes in the fourth than keeping the ball moving would. Brown is VERY old school in that regard. A very high chance a at difficult shot on goal is more valuable to him than a good chance at a much easier shot. I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that this line of thinking is going to lose them the series.

This is absolutely a must win for the Knicks tonight if this team has been breaking your heart for years.

Lot of Knicks fans already saying things like fixed and league pulling strings, which is sub-level panic talk.

It's crazy to be in this position right now where no matter what, in about one week will be living in historic Knicks times, for jubilation or unmatched devastation.  Would be way worse than 2004 Red Sox.

Spurs with Wemby could easily be wining championships every other year for the next decade, so they are in position to be playing loosey goosey the rest of the series.

There is way more at stake on the line for the Knicks it is not even close.

Remember that episode of Larry David where the Jets killed Larry's friend.  I have a friend almost 80 and I think he will die if this doesn't go right.

Mini-movie tells the whole story!

The more different angles I see of Harper finishing, the more hyped I get.

Reporter holding the mic straight up in the air for Victor is hilarious.

If the spurs play four dobermans out and one great dane (er, great frenchie) in the middle, how do they keep rottweiler OG and newfoundland KAT from eating their lunch?

But also, with four dobermans on the perimeter, can english bulldog brunson escape?

(Wanted some kind of “hold onto the bone” metaphor but it just sounded weird)

I keep coming back to this image. A man amongst boys.

That was such a head scratcher. I've been trying to write up some kind of recap of the last five or so minutes just to reign in my thoughts, but I don't even know where to start. So many puzzling plays (on both sides, Josh Hart needs to buy OG a mansion or something for saving his ass from becoming the next Charles Smith).

So many head scratchers from Fox throughout the second half. He was 2-7 and pretty much had 3 turnovers in a row. Wemby missing 2 clutch free throws is also shocking. Defensively, just leaving OG unguarded at the perimeter was frustrating to watch. I get double teaming Brunson, but the final tip Wemby AND Fox were at the top of the key.  Mitch Johnson also deserves a lot of heat here, Pop must be fuming.

I wanted SA to win last night for a longer series, but Knicks deserved that one and I hope they take it. Wemby needs to be humbled. Taunted Mitch, then shot free throws like Mitch.

I dismissed a lot of the “San Antonio is too young, they need to have their heart broken first” takes that were coming out early in the playoffs, but this series has definitely shown which team has been there before and made dumb choices and learned from them.

All 3 of the last games have been lost by the Spurs in the final 5 minutes through dumb mistakes and not rising to the moment.

No shortage of talent on that team, they’ll be back, but all of them need to learn how to close out a series and high pressure games together. Knicks have earned this one.

There was a feeling of dread even when san antonio was still up 20.

Bad shot…oh it went in. Bad shot! Oh. It went in? You start thinking you can’t miss and you stop focusing on process. Where’s the ball movement? Where’s the extra pass? Where’s the drive and kick that leads to a panic closeout that leads to an open shot? You’ve got KAT in foul trouble, but all your shots are coming from outside the arc.

At some point in Q2 there was a made 3 but Victor wasn’t even in the play, just drifting 25 feet from the basket.

It’s easy to say after the fact, but at that moment I had the sick feeling that the spurs were in trouble. They were up like 26.

Credit to the Knicks. They, never, ever, ever say die.

It’s just unbelievable how bad they are at closing out. Each game is the same story. Q1 they’re on a tear, Q4 they blow it.
