No actually the first 2 sections SET-UP the standings for the impact section.

The rankings are based off of total scores. you pretty much gotta get a solid spot from the first 2 sections (best run, and best trick) in order to have more of a margin for error for the last section, which is scored by your 4 best tricks. person with the highest total score wins. If you BARELY make it to the big section, you're gonna have to really rack up a good score just to have a chance to win, whereas if you come into the big section with a decent lead, you've got more breathing room.

the rails had nothing to do with it. his second run in the flow section wouldve been good enough for him to advance had he not bailed a couple tricks he normally has dialed down. just a bad day.

However he DID when the post-contest best trick thing & won some big ass bottle of champaign, so at least he's still getting fucked up tonight *ellington voice*


still, I aint got nothing but respect for the lil nigga but it definitely makes the whole contest more interesting when he's not flat-out dominating everybody.

They destroy everything that's unique about skateboarding and turn it into some jocky competition so it can be accepted and sold to the masses.

Newer generations will actually think that skateboarding is just another sport, where beating your oponent and being the "champion" are the goals...

For me, the prelims were way more interesting than the finals.

Luan fucking killed the prelims and Geoff Rowley commentating was awesome.

The finals themselves kind of sucked other than Nyjah getting eliminated, which was cool.
