Do you ever feel nostalgic for time periods you weren't around for? I grew up skating in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater boom of 2000, and I have only ever known skateboarding as something that was fairly popular. Even prior to that in my hometown of Santa Cruz, CA, skateboarding was always popular, and as such I've never seen or experienced one of skateboarding's "deaths." Part of me wants to see it happen, but the other part feels like too many skateboarders that i love seeing random bits of footage of would completely fall off. Given the number of skateparks, the number of corporatios, etc etc, skateboarding doesn't seem like it could die right now if it wanted to, but I guess my question is if the fate of skateboarding as popular activity was in your hands, would you kill it?

An Italian, a Scotsman, and a Chinese fellow were hired at a construction site. The foreman pointed out a huge pile of sand and told the Italian guy, "You're in charge of sweeping." To the Scotsman he said, "You're in charge of shoveling." And to the Chinese guy, "You're in charge of supplies."
He then said, "Now, I have to leave for a little while. I expect you guys to make a dent in that there pile."
The foreman went away for a of couple hours, and, when he returned, the pile of sand was untouched. He asked the Italian, "Why didn't you sweep any of it?" The Italian replied, "I no hava no broom. You said to the Chinese fella that he a wasa in a charge of supplies, but he hasa disappeared and I no coulda finda him nowhere." Then the foreman turned to the Scotsman and said, "And you, I thought I told you to shovel this pile."
The Scotsman replied, "Aye, ye did lad, boot ah couldnay get meself a shoovel! Ye left th' Chinese gadgie in chairge of supplies, boot ah couldnay fin' him either." The foreman was really angry by now and stormed off toward the pile of sand to look for the Chinese guy.

Just then, the Chinese guy jumped out from behind the pile of sand and yelled...

Despite all the negative aspects of the over saturation of skateboard media on the internet there's still gems being produced if you weed through all the bull crap. The GX1000 series and those Map Masquerade tour videos are examples of this. What's your take on this whole thing?

More importantly, are you currently working on any video projects that will be available on DVD? It seems like you have enough steam behind you with the following you've earned with your skateboarding and now with your refreshing outlook on the industry etc. You're big enough to be a force in the industry but also one of the largest advocates for "underground" skating. Any chance you can channel that into an independent video project using your connections to different scenes etc? If so, Get Al Davis in there...

I worked in a restaurant that had special muffin baking pans, which were shallow, so all you got was the tops. I would imagine that's the most cost efficient method to operate such a venture.
