More grindcore/metalcore, but they kick ass. Waited 8 years for 18 minutes of new music and it rules.

other than the fact they are on their, what, 3rd time reuniting in a not so long period of time...I honestly can't believe there is a crowd for them made up of anyone under the age of 40 at this point.

i saw them at this is hardcore last year, i was 35 and was on the low end of the median age in the crowd lol

i'd go to the gilman st show if terror and haywire were opening. as it stands now i'd leave after twist of cain and crashing forward so it's not worth getting on the train

Look I'm not selling anything that doesn't have my jizz on it. I don't care how much is offered.

Saw Faze play last night. Singer reminded me for all money of T-Funk, and rhythm guitarist of Shane Heyl, maybe just cos of bucket hat though.
Now, we used to say we put on our tights to put on the world. So I don't think it tarnishes the image at all.

Incredible grooves.  This is more or less where we was trying to go in the late 90s early 00s.

seen Haywire twice in the past month in different cities and they are so sick. crazy to see a band grinding as hard as they have this year and not just playing every fest. seems like they are hitting every market and every random town.

Just got my ticket to see 50 Lions next year - they have had a massive hiatus and I haven’t seen them in like 15 years, so hyped!

If you like TUI, Backtrack vibes check em out.

im not big on power violence
but every dropdead song 2min+ has been worth it
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

I’ve listened to their lp a bunch in the past 24 hours and while I enjoy it, I feel like I should like it so much more. It’s basically bhc worship all rolled into one and I am a BHC maniac as it is the pinnacle of all hardcore. Maybe I’ll keep listening. I do enjoy it though

to touch on the bane thing…

in high school i enjoyed those first few albums. but when their album the note came out it def just wasn’t hitting the same anymore.

i revisited the band a few years ago and couldn’t even get through 3 songs.

i was just like, fuck this. i threw on shai hulud’s album hearts once nourished and was like DAMN this album hits harder now than it did even when i first heard it haha

Similarly, pinnacle Converge to me is Petitioning the Empty Sky. I’ve literally never heard anything after that. I really hate that whole Jane Doe “beautiful women Marilyn Monroe” or whatever you wanna call that whole aesthetic

def get that sentiment

petitioning is still so fuckin good to this day. i was able to enjoy converge up to the release of axe to fall if im being honest here.

as i got older i actually find myself revisiting cave in and old man gloom more than converge! never realized growing up how a lot of the stuff i was into was coming out of boston / mass

@HeavyAndExpensive can you elaborate on your "marilyn monroe beautiful women" converge statement? im intrigued lol

I feel the same @overlyoffensive - no heroes was their last album I actually enjoyed at the time it was released. Petitioning does still go so hard. I also always loved When Forever Comes Crashing too because of the classic group vocals on some tracks like "THIS TIME IT"S WAAaaaRRRRRRR" or "I will *chug* rise uh-gaaaaaaaain" ...lmao need to throw on those tracks now

after the praise in this thread might need to check out that haywire lp. I really like that track they have chubby on guest vocals

@huell howser yeah that old converge stuff is hard to beat honestly

kids nowadays will probably hear vein.fm (even though their riffing isn't as crazy as converge) or something along those lines and think they're doing something new and unique. keep in mind i LOVE vein, haha. i haven't seen converge live in many many years at this point, but i noticed years ago that they weren't really drawing any new / younger fans in. their shows were nothing but older people so i think kids getting into this sort of music now are going to flip when they discovered this older converge stuff down the line

also, a converge release that i feel is very underrated is that poacher diaries split they did with agoraphic. even lots of fans who are super into them hardly ever talk about that release. it's worth a revisit if you're not too familiar :)

the Jane Doe slander in here is insane considering thats like THE Converge record. That said, No Heros is my personal favorite. ‘Plagues’ is the TRACK

i love jane doe! probably my favorite record of theirs, but i love the stuff before it too

axe to fall is honestly probably my second favorite if i had to choose now that i think about it... :o
