Damn if Braydons off for some odd reason i'll be pretty bummed out but I dont think any of these guys got let go Baker is too much of a homie team to do that. If its true im thinking there gunna end up somewhere in the bakerboysdist. proximity or head over to LE. As long as Braydon and Lenoce are playing skateboards im pretty stoked

Also, could someone buy him a chinstrap for his hat? I swear he tried to catch it after one gap and then realised he wasn't wearing it...

Spanky was never even on a shop sponsored level. He stinks.
[close]

really now? you're going to tell me this part wasn't really good for 2003?

[close]

Ah, you got me. That part was really good. I had never seen it.
[close]

What? You've never seen This is Skateboarding? Or just Kevin's part?
[close]

You gotta remember that vid is 10 years old. That means that all these skate kids aged 14-18 would have been 4-8 years old when it came out. Wow that makes me feel old haha. So if they havent taken the initiative to go back and look at the history of skating and sakte vids then they would have no idea about it.

[close]
Yeah, it's easy to forget just how long ago 2003 was. Fuck
[close]

Haha, I'm 34 years old and have been skating since 1989 so I'm not really a skate kid. I never saw that vid cause after living in skate houses with 500 videos and no cable TV for years, I got burnt out on watching them around 2000. If I need some pre-sesh stoke I go to Modus Operandi, Video Days, or Streets of Fire depending on what terrain I want to go skate.
[close]
You haven't watched videos since 2000 but yet you threw in a random shitty opinion on spanky (who's output was mostly in the 2000's)? you are way too cool for human life, rohnny jad.

I've had Magazine subscriptions my whole life. Plus I check out webclips usually everyday. Also, after I watched the video I changed my opinion of the guy seeing as he had a good part 10 years ago (and had subsequently not produced shit). If giving my opinion of a skateboarder on a skateboarding forum makes you cool, consider me Miles Davis. Now please kill yourself or at least cut the sleeves off your "KiLLYo SelF" shirt.
I also saw him snake a kid with cancer once for some go fund me or some shit.

this part was in my opinion as good or better than his emerica part so if you've never seen baker 3 or this is skateboarding then you're in for some treats.. i'm not sure how you get burnt out on videos but not mags and web clips either.. whatever youve got some good catching to do if so

Isn't that the deal with baker? Boring skating, exciting clothes? Dudes are the epitome of gap/rail  SoCal one-up spot skaters. They are probably the best at it, but it doesn't change how generic their approach to skating is. Every video is them skating wilshire, hollywood high, the westwood stairs, carlsbad etc.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”

Agreed, agreed.  Most LA spots make me cringe, probably because I lived there.  Wilshire should have died after Melcher.  Hollywood High has been done too many times.  Go somewhere else and film!

Braydon is better than ever these days. Before he was doing inferior hammer tricks to the rest of the team at the same spots, now he is doing awesome lateflip shit that actually looks good.

Lenoce was pretty meh for a minute there, but then the Shake Junt video came around and he went HARD for that and it was cool shit.

I understand how people hate on Heyl but he has totally come such a long way from Baker has a Deathwish (let alone the late 90's) and is visibly progressing. He's filming some tricks that nobody has done since Mullen's days of duking it out with Daewon.

All in all, I respect all these dudes and hope this questionable news ain't true. I never liked Baker as a lil guy in the early 2000's, and now I love them! Go figure, considering they're aimed towards the young guys.

Sucks but it makes sense. Eventually a team can only be so big and support a certain amount of pros to live the lifestyle they live. And if sales aren't up they either cut or go under. Since skating does so much damage to you physically it makes more sense to put more focus on the young guns who not only are more physically capable but are more hungry for it then veteran pros. I still respect the veterans who are constantly improving and not staying in one state once the go pro like the now sober Reynolds, koston, prod etc. I still don't get how Daniel Castillo is pro though in such an elite team like chocolate and rarely producing any kind of footage or coverage. Just saying.

In from the start and has been loyal . At the end of the day I dont think he makes that much money and Im sure Chocolate would drop him if it was do or die . I mean they get to help out a friend and it doesnt really hurt anyone , its not like they cant add the next super AM or PRO just cause Castillo hasnt stepped down .  Just be happy for a skater getting paid

but still , its weird ...

Thats kinda like asking crailtap dudes to stop filming at lockwood and 7th street or asking alien dudes to stop filming tricks on the photosynthesis benches.

Has anyone from Baker actually addressed this rumor yet? I haven't seen anything about it besides this thread and their team page being down on the Baker website.

I'm really not backing this rumor at all. I know this is lame reasoning, but social media is too out of control to contain multiple drops from one of the biggest skateboarding companies out there. When Braydon left Emerica, he immediately addressed it on Twitter. There are no tweets. Heyl and Reynolds are out on Couch tour right now, and have been posting photos up together.
If my memory's correct, they do an update of the team photos every year around the summer time, because I imagine their sales go up tremendously with kids on summer vacation, people working more hours at summer jobs, Go Skateboarding Day, et cetera. They probably just want to have fresh content up for the many viewers they're going to be getting. Plus with their AM team stacking high, it was probably overdue for an update. I just don't think Reynolds could bare to drop those guys. He would at least open up room for them on Deathwish or another BBD team.

i agree. plus, if i remember correctly, their team page hadnt been updated in a really long time. i think figgy was still listed as am. maybe even theotis too. it was when they all had their photos taken inside the liquor store in front of the coolers. i could be wrong, but thats what it looked like the last time i checked their team page.
