I did it over the summer to some speedlabs that had a weird graphic in the conical part that wouldn’t get touched. Used some griptape and a mr clean magic eraser lol.

Another interesting TGM find

These $13 wheels -

https://tgmskateboards.com/skateboard-wheels-set-58mm-x-34mm-99a-yellow-black/

Look an awful lot like the Speedlab "Exposure" which retail for $33.

https://www.speedlabwheels.com/products/exposure-58mm-99a

TGM has a couple other ones that look to be from the same manufacturer for that price, so if you want big crazy color swirl wheels this might be a good deal for you.

Edit: It looks like you can get them from TGM's ebay with a set of bearings for a dollar more.

https://ebay.us/JGLyzO

Same mold holds on the center set for sure.
[close]
Are Creative and Mearathane still big wheel manufacturers? Could both be made by one of them.
There's also AEND and Labeda but I thought Speedlab used one of the og companies.
[close]

Mearthane owns creative.

They're still around and making good wheels. Jivaro and Portland wheel Co are creative and I think, speedlab might be too. As I understand it they're pretty much the bbs or PS Stix of the wheel world. I've got some Jivaro 53mm conicals that are really good (like almost F4 good) and theyve got some other shapes I'm interested in.

I remember seeing a thread on another forum that was the same concept as the woodshop directory but with wheels, I'll see if I can find it when I get home from work.

Edit: Found it

http://www.skaterscafe.com/showthread.php?116166-Who-Pours-What-Wheel

It's a little old and could be outdated so take it with a grain of salt but from that it looks like speedlab is creative/mpc, so I'd assume those other wheels on TGM are creative as well. Also after seeing NHS there I'm wondering if the swirl ones were meant to be slimeballs, they look like the right size/duro and kind of colors that they seem to use. Either way, this all points to TGM selling $13 creative wheels which is a pretty damn good deal.

interesting but no modern info. Powell didn't always make their own wheels, they bought their wheel manufacturer in the late-80's?

Anyone looking for something similar to the feel of f4's with a good screech and good grip to slip ratio should check out these Acid REM formula. Just set some up, super impressed with the feel, bark and slide. John Falahee still pours and cuts all his wheels by hand in his factory. Love this sidecut shape, in between the conical and conical full.
They are A little spendy but cool to support someone still making stuff inhouse by hand, and john is a great human, funny guy and so much history.

Never skated pigs but speedlabs are top quality, I’ve had a couple sets now in different durometers and they were great. Highly recommend.

does anyone uses bearing spacers with bones wheels? i had to exclude those with my STF 51mm wheels, or else my bearings won't go fully in.

What's going to be the main advantage of a wider wheel? Are there any situations where they perform noticeably  worse than a skinnier wheel? Probably dumb questions..

Weight distributed over a larger surface area may help you roll over some cracks/bumps. I wouldn't say that there are many situations where it would be noticeable worse.

For me, going from skinny to wide wheels sometimes throws off my flip tricks ever so slightly just due to the fact that they feel a bit clunkier but its a pretty minor difference, unnoticeable for most. You may also notice the reduced grind space if you're already on skinny ish trucks too. But the better handling on rough ground is probably worth it if you're thinking about getting wider wheels.

Someone here ordered bunty cakes to Europe? Saw that it was possible now and I'm kinda tempted, but steep shipping at 12 dollars, the wheels are still cheap tho.
12 bucks for USA to Europe shipping is not that bad.

Don't like skinny wheels. I like wide cause terrain and because they feel more stable. Better for manuals, wallies... and I use two washers on the inside to get back that grind clearance. IMO riding only wide has more advantages than riding only skinny. Skinny ain't gunna work for a lot of situations as well as wide, and if you have a wider wheel where you may want a skinny it'll work better than the aforementioned inverse. Does that make sense?

No advantage to wide wheels imo...a bit smoother on rough terrain (ymmv) but a 99a slim wheel can suffice.

Just don't skate some gold wheels riding the fullpipe at Upland like I did and you'll be okay. I totally slipped out going into the bowl at the end, but luckily didn't get wrecked.

I'm hoping this doesn't devolve into an argument about simplistic friction models..
Wider is gripper and won't breaking into a slide as easily. Should take a lil more effort to keep them sliding. Won't wear as quickly. And shouldn't heat up and get greasy as soon if you do lotsa powerslides, big hills. Next time you see a dude bombing a hill in SF check out how wide his wheels look, probably not on Classics.

Having skated most of my life on generally rough surfaces, I'd say wide wheels help.

Maybe it's placebo but that's good enough for me.
You know I thought these forums were a for skating not discussing fetishes

Ya. Better for rough ground. Idr exactly why. Seems like more cross-sectional area would give a slightly softer ride.

If someone is looking for a white Slime Ball this might be a similar formula?

https://dogtownskateboards.com/collections/wheels/products/dogtown-k-9-wheels-white-60mm-97a-set-of-4?variant=13189401968706
60 x 42 x 26
2mm narrower riding surface than slimeballs

Comments ask about them being rebranded slimeballs. Reply says different shape but nothing about the formula

I’ve had no luck at all getting them, or any wheel under 85a to slide, at least street skating. They do roll over damn near anything and don’t seem to chip like some of the other soft wheels do, however.
