Got these from the 303 sale for a little over $50 each with grip. They actually sent me one of the wrong graphic, but I can't complain because the one that they sent me is actually newer and would've been slightly more expensive.

I am curious about that board shape as I have never seen one in person, but the two questions I have are:

1. Is the shape, especially the nose, really any different to a normal board / popsicle shape?

2. Are the dimensions correct?  Marbie's shape: 8.5 x 32; 14" wheelbase

Might get one at some point, as they are on sale, but a few of the other There boards didn't seem to be the dimensions as listed, at least from their own site, vs other sites vs what people have said about them.

I do like a long nose and tail, especially the tail, if it is 6.75 or so.

https://www.skatedeluxe.com/en/p/there-marbie-reflect-8-5-skateboard-deck-multi_p160331

width: 8.5"
length: 32"
wheelbase: 14"
nose: 7.25"
tail: 6.75"
[close]
I’m currently skating my fifth one of this shape and I can confirm that the shaped part of this deck is just in the nose. It’s a little longer than average and is a slight shovel shape. I think that the nose helps me with tricks like slappy crooks but it pretty much skates like a popsicle deck otherwise.

The dimensions are correct. I like this shape mainly because of the short wheelbase. It’s a fun shape!

Thanks!

I have one on the way now to try.

Funny thing is I ordered a couple a while back and thought they were this shape, but it turns out they were a different 8.5 shape, more generic with a longer wheelbase, so not quite what I thought, but good enough anyway.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Yeah it's confusing because There makes Marbie decks in her unique shape and in the more generic DLX popsicle shapes. I've been wondering if they're phasing out her shaped deck because they haven't done one for a few drops now. I did skate one of the Marbie popsicle shapes a few years back and it was one of my favorite decks ever

I have seen it before with specific shapes from any number of brands or riders, some sell really well, while others just don't seem to move much at all or go through phases of being of interest or dropping off.

DLX does seem to keep the individual rider shapes around a fair bit longer than other brands, but I could see if something just don't seem like it is selling well, maybe the team riders still get their own shape, but their name and graphics go on more generic shapes, as has been the way more recently with There boards.

The new Marbie board on the "Real Tropical" 8.5 shape - 8.5 x 32 with 14.1 wb, which skates really well too.

Chandler who had the longer 14.69 wb 8.5 for a few graphics, but now the 8.5 is a regular one too, blue eagle shape, etc.

Any which way, it is fun to experiment with these shapes, just to see how they go and what they feel like compared to the normal boards, of which I am used to and have almost too many.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

since i sprained my ankle a week ago, i've been bummed and mostly laid up healing. drove out to the shop today and bought some blazer mids. first time buying nikes since like the pink box era, and man these feel really supportive around the ankles. i was actually able to walk better on my bad foot just from having them on and laced up tight, but not too tight. might cross over to the dark side for good and keep skating these exclusively. seems like a lot of other people swear by them.

I used to only skate emerica and eS for the first 5-10 years I skated, then I started skating vans Pro classics for like 5 years. Then I tried a bunch of different shit, a lot of adidas. For the last 5 years I've been almost exclusively skating blazer mids, still was dabbling in converse and adidas. As of now, I think the only shoes I actually want to skate in are blazer mids, dunk high SBs, Jordan 1 85s, and Air Ship PEs

I just got some FP insoles and I think I'm going to get some more. Kook ass company, shitty website, but that foam is something different.

Blazer mids are super easy to come by, and come in tons of colors. If I was forced to skate one shoe, that'd be it. I buy them lightly used from eBay/depop for ~$40. Plus they're on the cover of the first thrasher. And I like skating in old school basketball shoes the most. Good compromise between skating performance and a style i actually want to wear. Cons chuck Taylor pros look cool but I hate the narrow fit and rubber toe cap, and lack of padding.

I think Jordan 1s or air ships would be my absolute favorite shoes(I have wide feet) but I think the rubber used for the outsole on dunk SBs is superior. These three shoes are nowhere near as available as blazer mids though.

Yeah if you asked me 20 years ago if I would skate Nikes I'd prolly be like, naww son. Now it's the only shoes I skate. Welp

i started blazing mids following a nasty ankle sprain with heavy ligament damage after skating half cabs for most of my adult skating life. thought they were good til I started wearing/skating NB#1010. although a standard lower shoe, the support provided in the rest of the foot does more for my jammed up ankles than they mid top of the blazer. no one could have convinced me but there's no going back for this grey head

Blazer mids have a quality padded collar and it's easy to feel stable in them. However,  the actual heel counter in the shoe behind your ankle/heel is not as rigid. Especially if you are impatient to lace them up/of, you'll fuck that part up real quick. Then, any support/stability kinda goes out the window.

1010s and other NB# models have a more solid and reinforced heel counter that makes them more stable,  even if it's a low cut. Keep that in mind when shopping around for supportive ankle shoes!

I use a shoe horn to help get blazer mids and other mid tops on easier. Found that worked well for protecting the heel counter from breaking, even stayed in one piece for the life of the shoe!

Also recently got some 1010s and 440v2s and love wearing them to work. Great shoes. Haven't skated either yet since I actually like just wearing them around.

I have found that blazer heel padding gets torn up easily if you're taking them off without loosening them up properly, shoe horn putting them on also helps a lot. I managed to get one pair to last long enough for the upper 'sock' to fully separate from the vulc sole without tearing (so I glued em back in and added a new brake sole like longboarders do)

yeah they're definitely the most pain in the ass shoes to take on and off I've ever had, I'm usually a low top/slip on enjoyer. what happens to the heel counter thing when it's messed up? there's been a few times I've forced em off but I don't notice anything happening in the heel area. I'll always loosen properly now.

In my experience, the collared padding never got compromised when I was impatient taking them off/putting them on. However, the actual structure and shape of the counter that cups your heel can collapse or dent in weirdly. A dunk's heel counter is super rigid and firm, while the blazer's is thinner and not as rigid. Take a look and feel the heel counter of them next time you have them in hand to see what I mean. My past blazer mids sometimes had the heel counter dent in weirdly the longer I wore them or shoved them off/on impatiently.

So as the construction is basically a 'sock', the upper is stitched down to the mid layer that's glued into the vulc sole unit. If you force them off e.g. kicking them off with your other foot or pulling them off hard without properly loosening them you can tear the interior lining at the heel and/or the whole thing rips at the edge of the heel of the vulc unit.

The construction is basically inner liner > celastic (soft plastic) heel shaper > outer leather/suede. If the inner liner goes you can reglue it fairly easily especially if you add an inner heel patch. If the outer goes it's a massive pain because it would basically need the sole unit to be removed to do it properly.

I think the way the top collar padding is thicker than the rest of the lining over the heel seam is why it catches on the foot as you take them off. Just needs a bit more attention on/off.

so the top part that begins after the vertical strip of suede on the rear, is the more flexible part. below it being the heel counter, you're saying I would know if it was messed up cause it would be dented and flimsy?

You'd notice if you'd messed them up. There would be wear to the lining in the heel or to the exterior, or if you damaged the celastic the back quarters around the heel on the outside wouldn't look or feel even/smooth and you would physically feel the inner edges of it inside the shoe.

On one of my first pairs I always kicked em off and it caused wear to the fabric liner in the heel of the shoe and also messed up the celastic to the point that the edges started digging into my heel and I had to remove it. Doing that made them floppier and probably didn't help the shoe lifespan. RIP rift blue colourway,  you were the shit.

Until I find a nicer fitting and quality pair of jeans I guess I’m gonna keep blowing $150 for a pair of polar 93’s. For me they have the perfect fit. Nice and baggy but not overly baggy like the big boys. Not sure why they included Jenkem stickers. I get why there’s some last resort stickers obviously.

I bought some 60mm ojs, risers and hardware for my polarizer set up. Have some work to do on the bloard once I am able to get around again but I'm ready to go. Might pull my satoris off my cruiser and put it on the polarizer. Dark green wheels are so sick. Or dark purple. Just not on my edc. Gotta be yellow. Maybe black
