Ok, I can’t believe I’ve never seen (missed??) this info posted in this thread before:
Does anyone know/have the approximate kick angles of I-IV stamped decks? Some out there with angle finder / phone level must have measured these.
@Mbrimson88 I feel like this is something you’d know?
Ha yeah it is a funny one, but I think from checking way too many boards now, after I did buy a box of angle finders, there is not exactly one set number for each of the different roman numeral stamps, but maybe a rough guess if I recall, more like this:
I Stamp = 23 to 25 nose, 22 to 24 tail
II Stamp = 22 to 24 nose, 21 to 23 tail
III Stamp = 21 to 23 nose, 20 to 22 tail
IV Stamp = 20 to 22 nose, 19 to 21 tail
I have had more IV stamp boards than any other number, so just from those alone, some boards that were so very flat feeling, both kicks barely 20 degrees, but then others that also had IV stamp that were way steeper, as in almost 23 nose and 22 tail, which I kept as a show and tell. I kept the flattest board too, come to think of it, might have been 19 nose and 18 tail, which seemed ridiculous, but I set up another one that was almost the same and I loved it, so who knows.
Usually I will drive over anything over 21 in the tail, just to mellow it out a touch too, but occasionally I will leave them, especially if I am using a set of drilled in trucks on it.
* All the Black Label boards I have had in the last year or so have been super steep, compared to my usual boards, but I don't know whether that is just the boards I have bought or all of them now. I seem to recall a lot of other Black Label boards never being that steep a few years ago when I got some when they changed to BBS wood.
Comparisons here from a while back (two years ago actually):
