Re the 8.5 with 14.38 wb mold is the same as the others of comparable size, so some decks are steeper and some more mellow, really depending on the press number as per all DLX boards, with a bit of variance being the norm.
The half dozen of that 8.5 shape I currently have on hand are all pretty much average, at least one of each number I think, so although I would say not as mellow as the common 8.38 with 14.5 wb boards I have lots of, they are still pretty much that only a little bit wider (just a little) and ever so slightly a bit more tail for a bit less wheelbase, if that makes sense, as they are almost the same length as the 8.38 boards too. There are still other small differences, including in the overall shape, but that 8.5 is a slightly fatter and slightly more regular shape, not pointy but not squared off or blunt like some other boards too.
I like them for what they are and had a lot come through my hands back in the 2010s in particular, even though I rode 8.12 more than anything back then, I still had one or two of those 8.5s that I skated as well.
