Complaining about the price purse is stupid. If the girl streetleague was as popular as the real one, they'd be getting the same money. Only thing skateboarders produce is entertainment value. If people aren't entertained, then you don't get paid. Nobody deserves anything just from being good at doing tricks on a toy.

That being said I don't understand why no board company has tried to create a womens team, getting skating more acceptable among girls would be a great thing for the whole industry

Volleyball, surfing, snowboarding, skiing, table tennis, equestrian, dancing, figure skating...

An obvious one is gymnastics. Nobody watches that men's shit.

I put skateboarding in the same group as some of what Tracer listed (along with billiards and poker). There's no reason why it couldn't eventually be at the same level as men's for women... Hell, there (eventually) shouldn't even be a separation of sexes in contests. I never understood why that's still the case for billiards.

It has nothing to do with being equal at the sport. You know the top male athlete will always beat the top female athlete. Thats not the point. Men are given the chance more often than not. I know men who just suck at everything, and several women that could out do them in a heart beat. I have known several young women to play on mens teams, cause the talent in the women's category isn't up to snuff. The point is most of the sports you list have a grassroots/little league movement that is accepting of all. Skateboarding doesn't have that in the industry and it never really has as no one wants to take the hit of marketing and selling to a limited customer base. You said "entertainment", which comes down to are you marketable enough for us to make money off you. I didn't start skateboarding to entertain people as I am sure 99.9% of us here didn't either.

Hating on Leticia is just getting old.  She skates better, looks better, and has a team behind her to help her succeed.  Why can't these women just stick together?  Not surprising that all MEOW riders have a chip on their shoulder about the industry.  I guess being of a certain 'persuasion' lends to having an anti-male bent.   I'm glad they're trying to make inroads on their own.  

Just Look at our boy Ronson Lambert, he's actually good as hell.  He can't even get a mention in a magazine, let alone be invited to street league and there's a reason.  I would love any of these girls to skate at his level, cause then they they'd really have a reason to complain.  Otherwise, just start snowboarding.  You might get paid more bro.

If she's pissed about the women's contest thing, can't she just do what Elissa did? I remember at one point Elissa said both the prize purse and the competition level in women's contests was too low, so she started entering the men's contests instead. I don't think it worked out too well, but I always respected her for the move. There's no "men only" division as far as I know.

I'm enrolled in a feminist class this semester, and I can tell you that I really respect them, as long as they are not extremists. But unfortunately she picked the wrong category to demand respect in. The skateboarding industry is a capitalistic one and will thrive where there is money. Despite my respect for the women of the skateboard world, currently, there is not really any growth financially. Thus, they will not be treated the same. It sucks, yeah, but instead of crying about it, they should try creating something new for themselves, similar to Meow skateboards.

The female skating community seems to be rapidly expanding. So I feel that there is most certainly a future for the female community. Lacey Baker is not helping though, at all.

Basketball for women is criminally under appreciated

No, it's criminally boring to watch. I see better basketball on my son's High School BBall team than I do in women's basketball. The level of skill is just not there.

The WBNA is propped up the NBA. The only reason it exists is as a way to keep the shrieking harlots at bay, it's all financed through NBA revenues.
