my honest opinion on tempster:

timeless, great style, trick selection is refreshingly simple, seems like a good dude. lipslide an 18 stair when he was in like his late 30s, broke the tail and still rolled away. legend in my book.

posts weird pictures. makes kinda cool art that i would never consider putting in my house but admire on a wall in a gallery somewhere.

You wouldn't be stoked to have Ed's art in your house? I love his art, I think Toy graphics are some of the best out there as well, which Ed does all the art for.

The other important thing is Ed didn't leave skateboarding like Hensley and Jason Lee....and he didn't change either....despite how popular shit like Girl and Menace were.....

No I wouldn't want to look at it every day. I do love his art though. But it's best when it cycles through. I don't feel attached to any of his pieces, but rather his whole collection. They make me think for a second, then I move on. Basically, I love seeing "new" ed art.

However, I love them on my skateboard. And on my t shirt.

To answer your question: yes, Ed Templeton was a great skateboarder during his career, well into his twilight years, leading up to when he infamously broke his leg. Even the park footage he got just prior to injuring himself was pretty impressive for a man of his age and heft. You should really watch all of his parts, my personal favorite being in a film called Welcome To Hell. That was a video he made for a skateboard company he started called Toy Machine. If you would like to learn more about the skateboarder Ed Templeton, a filmographer named Patrick O'Dell made Templeton the subject of his Epicly Later'd documentary series.

Best of luck in your endeavor to learn more about professional skateboarding!

This is one of the worst threads ever. Tracer, it's crazy how dumb you are. Just do some fucking googling and you should be able to easily figure out how important and influential Ed templeton has been.

Nah, he was never any good, like every "pro" who starts their own company. It's just so they can give themselves a vanity board; look at Carroll, Reynolds, et al. Vain as hell with no talent. Too much time spent in front of mirrors. And no one says anything because they're helping others come up with sponsorships, which is really just to make themselves look good. It's always the elephant in the room at skateboard parties.

I appreciate his skating now more than ever. His parts get better with age. And his influence on skating culturally and artistically is incredible. I can't imagine skating now without Toy Machine videos or that company's aesthetic.

Tracer, you were definitely growing on me but damn...

Part of Ed Templetons appeal, to me, is not only his skateboarding (obviously he rips) but his view and perspective on skateboarding/art/humanity. He's just an endearing guy and the only people I've ever known to not like Ed are super young kids who can't appreciate him yet. But they will and usually do.

I watched his vice shit and damn what a character! Painting people naked and passed out while owning a company 2. Ed is definitely a better owner/ artist than pro skater. I only caught his late career stuff but Ed had better footage as a youngster. It wasn't next level shit but I'm starting to think creating this was sort of out of line.

Damn , tracer actually admitted he was wrong. Someone above said its typically little kids who don't appreciate temps and I definitely think that's true but with kids in emerica and this is skateboarding being my first video I've always had mad love for the dude. He seemed like the only one on the team at the time who could relate to the little dudes and take skating a little less seriously while killing it.
But I've said before and I'll say it again , tracer your opinion is worth less than your dollar.

That's a pretty good analogy. I remember it being a sort of a left field "who is this guy who is better than most pros?" type thing.

The Canadian dollar is fine, it's the American dollar that's strong now. It's not like bread costs 20$ or gas is running out. We have enough wood and oil to keep this country wealthy for 3 lifetimes.

Also it's hard to appreciate Ed when (at the time) his bag of tricks included 4-5 tricks.. Alongside Reynolds and Herman which is what I saw.

Cool story bro: when I was 12-13ish, I met Ed. He came up to me at a pizza place and said thanks for wearing my shoes and reached into his pocket and gave me a wad of toy and emerica stickers. I was so stoked. From that point on, I believed that all pro skaters carried stickers on them at all times. 15 years later and I'm still stoked!

I don't know what made me think about it or why I think this, but I've always assumed Ed had a huge dick. Has anybody else ever gotten that big dick vibe from him?
