Been wearing the Westgate 913 for a week, max 4 sessions, and noticed the plastic around the heel was starting to chip off from regular skating. I don't do any heelflips so I assumed it was just brittle and broke as the shoe flexed. Took a closer look today and saw the heel area was separating for the sole and the stitching underneath is visible.

This has happened to all 4 sides of the heel. A real bummer since they were just starting to break in after 4 session and was getting used to the flick.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Whoa, that's an odd one and not something we have seen before.  Looks like just a weird random defect.  Sending you a DM so that we can sort you out on this.

anyone know the word on whether or not the states are getting the khaki/red/black 306s? Have seen them show up in some euro shops but not on here at all
Yeah, they're releasing in the US. We're still dealing with shipment delays because of the port being so jammed up. Should be out in the next few weeks.

He reached out to me on DM so we are sorting that out, definitely +1. I got 2 more pairs brand new and I checked the heel area, plastic was peeling off already.

Contemplating repairing it with Shoe Goo but it looks beyond the capabilities of Shoe Goo.

what's the final consensus on 1010 heel lock in? it seemed like there were conflicting opinion in here but I didn't read the whole thread.
It depends on the pair you get. I got a couple pair of the first run and one (black suede) has big fat pods that locks my heel in and the other (white leather) has one with fat pods and one with seemingly no padding in there, which causes heel slip. The white pair also fit bigger than the black, in length and toe box height.

I have to agree here, I have both the OG color ways (black & white) as well as the wheat/black. The heel lock was good on the Black ones, ok but slightly worse on the whites and the wheat/black ones feel mad weird, like the padding is all out of place/mushed down, didn't notice until I was slipping them on the other day. Full disclosure I have only skated the blacks, bought the white and wheat ones to wear out don't plan on skating them.

hmm that doesn't sound great. i wanted to get the new white and gum ones .
I'm personally really happy with the herl lock on the white gum. The other two pairs I've had to lace up to the top to feel secure but the white gum i can wear laced just from the second to top holes

so here's an entirely non-scientific test i just did after reading the last few posts about heel lock on the brown suede vs white gum. i just got a pair of the grey day 1010's and have a pair of the browns and the biggest difference i notice is the material used inside the shoe around the heel. on the brown pair it's is much smoother/slicker than the more coarse mesh material used on the grey. idk, like i said not really hard science but i can definitely feel a difference. i also feel like the coarse mesh material is a bit thicker if that makes any sense

anyway, food for thought

has anyone had good experiences skating the 440 low? I have the highs and thought the heel felt a little loose, just copped a pair of the lows and I'm actually scared to skate them because of how low cut and loose the ankle feels compared to other low shoes. Might have to swap em out.
On that note, does anyone know if the insole of the 306 changed? Some recent pics of it i've seen have the abzorb insole in them and that's what really has turned me off on the 440hi because of how thin they are. was rocking a pair of 306s in the black/gum from 2019 and the insoles on them were formed and a lot thicker than the abzorb.

Skated both and can say I like the low better. They are pretty low cut, but very stable in my experience (no heel slip, shoe felt locked in and snug). Maybe try a smaller size? The insoles in 440s must be swapped, I always put some old lunarlon insoles in mine. However right now I'm running my old NB1010 insoles in some 440 lows and that's feeling fine!

To me, low tops feel the best for flip tricks. I love my 440 his and feel really secure and confident in them doing pretty much everything but flipping my board.

I have only skated the lows and I loved them. When I was skating estrictly NB# I always went half size up, including 440, and never had an issue.

i skate 440 lows almost exclusively, each pair maybe fits a bit different depending on being suede or leather. if they are loose i put busenitz p/u insoles in and that shores them up.

ive had to do this with 1010's putting foy insoles in if they fit too big.

also i find the ankle lower on 1010's than 440s, when it comes to board taps on the ankle.

Just copped the colorful 1010s. Hoping for the best on the sizing. Run a 12 in almost everything and bought a 12 here. Trying not to size down and squeeze my feet into smaller shoes just for "boardfeel" or whatever these days so I hope they're at least close to TTS.
none of us skate we just make fun of it
