Long time listener first time caller. Just picked up a pair of 1010s today in a size 9.

I daily a pair of 990v3s in an 8 and they are basically the only shoes I will purchase / wear. The 8 and 8.5 1010s were both insanely tight. Breaking in the 1010s now and have some arch pain but I have a flat foot so probably just adjusting.

Love everything else about the shoe so far but wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience as me with sizing up. Am I gonna be cooked once they stretch / pack out?
[close]

Depends on how much room you have in the toe. I never skate shoes that have more than about 3/4” inch of space in the toes. I find the extra space just grabs the board and my flick is off.
[close]

The toe feels snug, it just seems wrong to size up a full size from another shoe made by the same company

Yeah, that is weird. As long as it’s not too long in the toe, you should be good.

In my experience with NB#, their sizing is all over the place. For me, 1010’s fit true to size. I have to size down in 440’s, 272’s, and 22’s. In the 808’s, I have to size up. I can’t be the only one who has had this experience

🔥🔥🔥

These could be good candidates for destitching the N logo on the side.  White edging makes it pop a little much.  Love the simplicity of a black and gum Emerica style shoe

Looks like a reworked 288 with a 1010/808 style toe cap/vamp.

Y’all need to CHILL.
The Reynolds shoe is a long ways away.
Sneaker development is a 1-2 year process.
That’s the Knox shoe.

Not necessarily if it isn't a new model and it's only a past one repurposed for him.

He’ll likely get a colorway before a full blown pro shoe.

If that is the case, then I'd imagine they'd release as quick as possible to get as many sales while it's still news

someone just told me that "the higher the number, the more tech" in new balance shoes. is there any truth to that? so the 1010 has the most tech of any skate shoe

So the 440 lows are a little tighter than the highs, but I wouldn’t say it’s by a half size. Still more comfortable than the Tyshawn’s. Will probably feel looser once they break in. Only cost me $52 bucks from Orchard 😌

Yeah, within NB's models, the 1010 would be their most tech and 22 their most basic. I think numeric also uses it for cupsole vs vulc... Vulc is on the low end, cup on the high end.

Ah, I wonder if there was any reason behind the numbers. Guess I like medium tech lol

The skater gets to chose the number usually. Brandon Westgate's shoe is the 508, which is the area code for Massachusetts

The higher the number, the more tech is correct, I believe. Rothdigga could probably clarify.

I thought I had seen a Jamie Foy interview (Nine Club?) and he said NB# told him to pick a number in the 300’s.

Also, not a ton of tech in the Westgate 508. Maybe his shoe and area code just lined up?

Ordered a pair of 808's for super cheap .5 up in wheat/gum (I'm a sucker for that colorway).  Hoping my feet are fucked up in the right way to like them giving it doesn't seem many do.

Arto's shoe 358 was also the country code for Finland, so there is obviously a bit of both happening, level of tech and personal preference. I would imagine Tiago didn't have 808 by accident either.
take what small comfort there may be left

Watching The Nine Club with Shane Heyl and Nikolai Piombo. Kelly Hart brought up seeing original drawings at Sole Tech by Reynolds of his first shoe on Emerica. Then Shane Heyl said,”Stay tuned.”

I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing a Reynolds shoe in 2024. At least I’m hoping we do. I know those things take a long time

Have loved this colorway since I was a kid and have had it on so many different shoes.
Went .5 up and so far I'm loving this thing, even if it is stiff af.  They don't look as bulky as I expected on foot, in hand they def do though

First time I used my 1010 the highlighted part (only on my left foot) hurt like hell to the point I couldn't walk.
This happened to anybody else?
I'll try to walk them more to see if it goes away
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.
