Let me ask the designers on this one. My guess is, this is a 1-off factory issue and not something for ALL 440 hi/low's. But I'll ask and see what I can find. Plus I have a bunch of them on the wall here in my office and can do a little test as well.
Cheers Roth, that sounds great. I forgot to mention that they look and feel fantastic other than the size issue. And I really like the new larger N too. Can't wait to skate them!
All my 440 v1 highs fit me in size 10. All my 440 v1 lows were too small in 10, perfect in 10.5.
That's really interesting. I only had the 440 V1 lows, which did fit me alright, but was maybe a bit snug. Either way, with my V2's the outer sole looks like it was produced with two differently sized molds! Or that the white outer material of the lows somehow shrunk more than the gum/white material of the highs. As a consumer, I think it's reasonable to expect the same shoe model to use the same mold size, whether it's high or low. But it sounds like this might be a general NB issue, maybe?
Edit: I just received this mail from New Balance support, which seems to suggest that the V2 low indeed is smaller than the highs. If this is by design it sure is a baffling decision, considering the design of the outer mold is/looks identical. Weird.
