Just got the wide 440V2 in and I swear the regular seems wider. Wide is left and regular on right
[close]

This is kinda what I was saying earlier. The wides didn’t seem all that wide to me.

They fit great though and are (as 440’s naturally are) very comfortable.

Dare I suggest pulling out a ruler and getting some real measurements

Also have you pulled out each insole and compared if the "wider" one is indeed wider?

Just got some wide 440 v2s in. They feel pretty hard soled. Do they soften up at all? Is there any foam in the sole ? I’m a little surprised.

It's not a wider sole unit as much as it's a wider/more relaxed upper on the 2E width shoes.  The sole will only be like 2mm difference wider but it's the materials in the upper that are relaxed for the wides for NB.  We don't make a 4E or anything like that but on those NB shoes you would see a much bigger difference in the sole width as well.

I have some Tiago 808s i have just wore as chillers and normally only skate the blazer mids. Recently knees have been killing me and everytime i wear the 808s out and about my knees instantly feel a bit better which has me thinking if i should finally give in and try skating them. Just a little nervous because i have only skated high top vulcs for the past 8 yrs or so after a bad ankle injury. Anyone have good experience switching to Tiago 808s after only skating vulcs and notice less pain in the knees? I know the boardfeel will be a huge change to get used to but im ok with that if they really do help the knees out

Hello @rothdigga please tell me that the 600 won't get discontinued ever. I think I finally found THE shoe. Lurking the NB website and contemplating if I should order a few more colorways..

I used to skate the thinnest vulcs, now skate 808s and can confirm less pain everywhere. I transitioned over time from Emerica indicators to wino g6 vulc to g6 cup, NB 1010 then 808. No regrets.

As far out as I can see....going into 2026, the NM600 is still in the line.  We don't tend to "get rid" of models that quickly so I would say you're safe on that shoe for the foreseeable future.  The 1010 is 4 years old now, 306 is 5 years old and we have only done very minor tweaks on the 1010 and nothing on the 306.

About a year or so ago, they slightly changed the heel pods to help with heel slipping that was happening for some people.  Again, minor tweaks just to continually make tweaks where needed.  We did similar things to the 508 to secure the fit and it really seems to have helped.

The 480 only needs tongue straps and foam heel pads. Right now I have to lace them all the way up to prevent slippage.

This is insane, I’d be livid.  NB just can’t get it right when it comes to skate shoes for wide/high volume feet.  Any of their shoes that’s roomy enough in one area is narrow/tight as hell in another.  Heel slip, golf ball arches, etc.

Will echo the love for 990s though.. even in standard width the 990v5s I bought feel like a dream.  Sadly, the newest v6 version is pretty narrow and tight across the midfoot.. they better not fuck that series up too.
nah v6 is amazing for me, beat those things up. V4 prior to that as well.

But I agree, the 440v2 is super short in the toebox. Wtf man, disappointed. 440 was great for my foot even though it was 3 years ago I had a pair? Reynolds 480 had issues, but my 1010 is nice. Willing to try said pairs again but really want to jump to the 600 if I can find a 13

Can anyone compare 808 vs 440v2 in terms of how they fit? I'm 11.5 in Nike and blazers mids fit like a glove with very little extra room. Recently I bought a pair of 808s but had to return them (should have read all the posts here saying that they fit .5 small...).

Should I go tts or .5 up in 440v2?

I have a pair TTS and they are fine.

I second this. It would be nice to wear my 480s with slightly loosened laces without sacrificing a solid heel lock.

I wonder how the 480s would fit/function with a thicker tongue, similar to the 1010 or 808s?

I got the cream and green pair and they are super comfy. Skated in them for the first time today and my feet couldn’t have been happier. I think they are going to finally make me hang up the half cab. Probably going to grab the brown/ black highs

Third. I just assumed it was my skinny ass feet/ankles. Something to help with that would be ideal.

I own almost every colorway of the 1010s and 808s. I love skating in them. They help me manage an arthritic knee, and they helped me get over some stubborn Achilles tendinitis. But the heel slippage is very real and very annoying, even after the tweaks to the 1010.

I own a couple pairs of Asics Japan Pros. They fit the way I wish the 1010s and 808s would fit. But the impact protection isn’t as good. Construction and materials don’t seem as premium, and I like everything the NB# team is doing, so I want to support them.

I know every foot is different. Maybe my feet are a bad match for the NB# lasts.

I have recently switched to the 600s. My heels are really locked in and impact protection is great. The 600s just don’t have the same puffy vibe that I dig in the Tiagos.

Interesting. I skate 1010s all the time, and recently skated a pair of japan pros (with superfeet insoles). I don't get heel slip in 1010s after they break in but was definitely getting a lil in the asics until I added some heel grips to the collar. The asics skated quite good, but definitely not as premium as the 1010s. Everyones foot is very different I guess

1010 is probably the only shoe that I skate these days without swapping out the insole for superfeet

My feet are the same way with both shoes. I can skate the 1010, there is only heel slip when walking and pushing so I can deal. 600 fits like a glove. Would love to see a '6XX' that beefs up the 600 in the heel/arch/upper padding.

My first impressions of the 600 is that they feel like the 440 (good thing) as far as sole flexibility, and that broken in fresh out of the box feel.

Fit seems solid tts too.

I think this shoe is gonna be amazing.

I don't think a thicker tongue would work but tongue straps would be a nice update.

question for you guys in here:
i got me the white 480 highs and love them, pretty tts. also the first white leather/ gum sole 600s.
i don't slip around in the 480s one bit but the 600s seem a lil short in my usual size. or to better say my foot travels forward after a while and i stub my toes. plus they are still pretty solid due to the upper i guess. kinda weird thing since they still do fit.

so will a different insole help? different socks? hw does the leather break in?

Any help's appreciated since i love the look and wanna skate them

Long time lurker first time poster.

Any other large footed folk find sizing on the 440v2 a pain?

Worn Vans for years at a UK11 across the board, in the 440v2 I've tried 11,11.5 and 12.5. For some reason Numeric don't seem to make a UK12 in any of its shoes?

11 and 11.5 felt exactly the same, way too tight and crammed in. The 12.5 were like clown shoes on me, slipped around everywhere, am I just shit out of luck when it comes to New Balance? Tempted just to go back to Crockett Highs as this is a pain in the ass ordering and returning.

According to the New Balance size chart on their website, UK12 is equivalent to US12.5, and yeah, they don't make any of the numeric models in US12.5 (it's a fairly rare size in general, I think only adidas offers it).
But I feel your pain, I'm in the same boat with 440s...the US12 is way too small, and the US13 is huge.

It's a bummer the sizing seems to be a bit all over the place, the UK11.5 I tried on in store fit me perfect, but it was a low top version so maybe there's some difference between the highs and lows?

Actually found Crockett Highs on sale in my size, all black (wish brands produced all black colour ways of popular shoes) so for now ill stick to them. Hoping they start producing those UK12 in the 440, they feel like they'd be a great shoe if they didn't crush my big toe.
