NB# is the worst of all. I'd wear D3s before I ever put those fuckin grandpa shoes on my feet.

Youd probably skate like a grandpa with D3s on

Pulled that zinger out of the crypt, huh?

The 508s kick ass
Wow sorry, didn't realise I was dealing with a sick cunt here

808/Rolands are up on NB…no 10.5 listed (and not slashed/sold out).

https://www.newbalance.com/pd/nb-numeric-tiago-lemos-808/NM808V1-50080.html?dwvar_NM808V1-50080_style=NM808ROB

What gives @rothdigga ?

[close]

I would guess since the 11.5 aren’t listed either it’s either a victim to same issue for the Reynolds 480 or it’s a copy/paste issue from creating the page Reynolds 480 (but I have zero knowledge of building webpages so that could be a silly suggestion)
[close]

That's what I was thinking, but man, that's pretty messy. The universe telling me I don't need more shoes ;)
[close]

The only time I’d absolutely riot is if/when a Tom Knox 600 Grey Day releases and 10.5 isn’t available.

But will there a be a Grey Day 600 in the future?

I believe the NB guys said there were plans for it, but not this year (they said this earlier in the year), so maybe 2025?     The other pro shoes that aren’t Tiago haven’t had a Grey Day iirc even though I think they would all look damn great in them

Saw that the new 480 Reynolds colorway was in Zumiez. I did not expect that.

Was that a one-off, or will we be seeing more stuff like that in Zumiez in the future?

I did notice a lot of NB# in Zumiez, which is great. That supports the team, and everyone behind the scenes. I just hope it stays on the more core root, with special colorways/drops not being available at a local shop

Yea...fuck Zumiez, avoid those assholes if you can...
-they shipped my shoes separately from two different wherehouses a week apart (why)
-still charged my for my expedited shipping that took a week
-No fucking sticker in the second pair ordered (obviously someone at zumiez took it)

Other that size 11.5 and 12 fits fine...

Alright I’m not defending Zumiez but…

1. Zumiez keeps all your favorite brands afloat with their giant bulk order numbers.

I agree. I just would rather see special releases only at a local shop. No reason for people to shop at local skateshops if they’re not getting anything different from the mall. Take a Nike SB Dunk for example. People flock to skateshop from all walks of life for that shoe.

People are starting to take notice of the #480’s and they’re getting more and more popular. Seeing 3 different colorways of #480’s at Zumiez bummed me out.

Same as the Reynolds 480 as stated above, both that shoe and the Roland 1010 were on the same factory order and there was a mixup where no 10.5's and 11.5's were made for those 2 shoes.  Sucks but it does happen sometimes and I didn't find out until it was WAY late in the process so we had to just go with it.
In hindsight, it's seeming like a real stupid decision on my part to sell my unworn brown Reynolds 480 to buy a pair of new shoes.

It wasn’t a part of the catalog for the season. I would say it was a special release. At least that’s how I see it. If it’s not part of the catalog, it’s a special release.

If I didn't like the 440 V1 will I like the 440 V2 more?
Is there some internal arch support in the 508? Maybe I give these another try.

And what is the consensus on the 272 regarding the size? 306 and 600 are tts for me. 574 felt weird in tts and half size down, but I liked the wider toebox in them. Half size down the length of the shoe was good, whereas in my usual 7.5 the shoe felt hella long. Which brings me to the 272. Jake Hayes and Tom K seem to only skate these shoes and they look hella nice on them.

man did I hate 440 v1. Got some remind insoles to slap in them and hoping to get through them

now, the V2 I have been wearing to work and they are perfectly broken in now. Honestly debating buying a second pair to rock in the office I like them so much. Can already tell theyre going to be the perfect skate shoes

So many shoes are in my closet right now for no reason but fuck it

edit*

welp just saw the pair on sale at ccs for less than $50

its a go

Couldn't agree more with you. I have some V2 which I love and got done v1 highs in the closet. Needed some ankle protection si went for those, put a game changer FP insole and they're ok. My point here is that stock V2 are nicer than FP upgraded V1.

god damn thats wild

everyone who loved the first one must be head over heels for v2, cause thats a massive upgrade

dont know what water NB is serving up at the office but keep it up. Hope they stay on top for a long time

edit*

the 480 is not my style of shoe, but they do feel damn good after breaking them in. I usually go for the slimmer silhouette so its weird getting used to

just added that to say numeric is not fucking around these days

anyone know any shoes that were a miss in the last few years? How are the 417?

anyone catch the audazo?

The Rolland collab box/packaging is the dope! Just a shame that in typical NB fashion the box is falling apart.

This shoe looks even better in person. NB hit it out of the park on this collab.

fair fair, in my mind i was thinking special meaning more limited like those dunkin ones. that being said i think nb has been very generous so far when it comes to special 480 releases and getting those to shops, so one with a broader appeal (reynolds) being at zumiez doesn't surprise me

Quick 480 question - are the high topsslightly roomier similar to how the 440s were, or are they pretty much the same fit as the 480 lows?

Man, I felt bad when I saw they were subject to the same error as the Reynolds shoe. A lot of people gotta be bummed on this one.

The shoe is something special, especially if you’re into synths/beat-making, etc.

Which also makes me realize I misspelled Roland in my post. Kinda funny considering I’m a Boss fanboy, and actually own a TR-08. Whoops!

I have the brown Reynolds 480 lows and the first 480 highs that are white and red, and the highs are ever so slightly roomier. Not enough to justify getting a different size though.

grabbed some 1010s in this "castlerock"/ greyish blue colorway since they were 60€.

wearing them right now with rather thin socks and i have no heelslip....at all!

some time back last year i had the beef/ broccoli colorway and in 2021 those white leather with gum sole and had mad heelslip even when laced kinda tight. bit bummed that the fit seems inconsistent in the 1010, hyped i found a good fitting pair.
have shoes to burn through still but can't wait to skate those

basically just babbling from me, but if some of you experienced heelslip in those before just a heads up!

as somebody wrote in this thread a while back: suede with mesh seems the way to go on those.

anybody else experience differnet fitting in cw on the 1010 or a rather especially good fit on one cw?

I’m really surprised to hear people having problems with heel slip with the 1010’s. I only had one pair, and never had that problem. With those pods in the heel, it’s really surprising. I think I remember reading on here that the padding in the heel got changed though? Still, the above post talking about heel slip on those white leather/gum colorway is surprising. Not that I don’t believe it. Everybody has different feet. Just surprised.

What I’m really surprised by is certain sizes not getting produced for that Reynolds 480 colorway and that 808 Roland colorway.

Shit happens, and it’s outta NB#’s control. But what causes that? Like, the factory didn’t question that? They didn’t look at the order and notice that certain sizes weren’t ordered? With such a big company like New Balance, I would imagine that would raise an eyebrow. It really doesn’t make sense.

Is no one else confused by this?

People working in the factories in Vietnam or Indonesia work long hours for low pay. Their only responsibility is to make whatever gets ordered. Whoever placed the order is at fault but NB# is aware, and it probably won’t happen again.

It just makes it that much easier to go and buy something different from another brand.

Grabbed some 1010’s myself recently and I’m surprised to hear about the heal slip. Was it from the start or did it eventually develop from skating? I’ve yet to skate mine and only worn them for maybe an hour but I didn’t have any slip while walking.

When I first got mine I was getting some really mild heel slip for the first session or two but after that it went away and has great lockdown now. I skated mine out of the box so I think the heel pods just need a little time to break in and mold to your foot. If you've been wearing them around with no issue so far then you should be good.

good point!

after being on my second pair of 480 highs i feel like i should give the 1010s a chance- 480s really need time to break in and felt a lil clunky in the beginning but the foam gets flexible after a while and the shoes form to my foot supergood. so i think the 1010s might be the same?

or thicker socks, i wanna skate them, great look down factor in these!

I want to add my 1010 experience to the discussion. I’m on my 10th pair and it has been my favorite shoe and go to in the last couple years.
In my experience, heel-slip might occur and depends on the materials a little bit. But it always went away and was part of the break in process. To make this as smooth and painless as possible, I developed a little routine. I always wear them walking around for a couple days at first and while doing that, I lace them really tight and all the way up, making sure the heel is locked tight into the shoe. As soon as they contort with my foot a little bit better I start skating them and don’t use the top lace holes anymore.

Further things I noticed: there has been some kind of upgrade as it has been discussed here before.
The “Updated ones” feel a little bit tighter around the forefoot. In most cases, the heel cushions are a little bit more puffy and the most noticeable hint to the upgrade are the lace loops second from the top. The old ones had a metal ring that broke the laces pretty quick and the “Updated ones”  feature a rubber lace loop where the laces are protected a little bit better.
I think it’s really cool they updated the shoe and made it a little bit better in my opinion. Nice attention to detail.

To summarize: Stiffer materials, especially leather and a non-mesh toe cap might cause a little more heel-slip and may require a longer break in period. Also, the old ones had this a little bit more. The brown suede ones (called the broccoli and beef colorway) definitely are the pre-upgrade. They had a second round of those after the upgraded ones came out, but the brown ones still were the old construction with the old lace loops. Also, you might want to check how puffy those heel cushions are filled. I’ve had a couple models where there seemed to be less filler material inside.
