I like my GTs well enough, even though Blazer’s have always felt a bit strange to me in the way that my foot slides up the board in them while ollie-ing and doing flip tricks. I think it has to do with how round the toe is. I feel like there isn’t as much traction as I would prefer.

I just took delievery of the 417 (mid/hi) and it's the brother from another mother to the Adidas Nora (good thing) and/or the old DC Smith (slightly). Not skated them yet tho.

I'm a 10.5, they run TTS and don't feel narrow at all, 'new shoe snug' but they'll bag out for sure; don't feel super supportive out of the box but that's what I wanted this round.

Can we please get a colourway that emulates the airwalk enigma again? Actually just do the 574 again, you could even do it as a mid. Please!!
I'm bummed that I missed this the first time around.

Yeah, it’s just a little confusing. Some skate shops stocked them, which only adds further confusion to the equation.

I am hoping @rothdigga can kinda clarify things.
[close]

We only had enough pairs of the Basketball Kawhi to sell to about 9-10 stores across the whole US, so that's why you only saw a few guys get all 3 shoes and the rest just did the 480/1010 combo.  Hope that clarifies it.

Annoyingly it seems all that landed in my country (NZ) are the IVs.

Annoying because I was looking for new 1010s, saw the collab come up at a skateshop here, and didn't double check they were actually 1010s ("Saturday night, few drinks, mobile phone on the couch" purchase).

Realised my mistake as soon as I opened the box. They're nice though.

Hey pals. Someone on here could maybe tell me something about the 574 Core shoes? These are part of the New Balance Lifestyle line and I think I would try these for some comfy everyday sneakers. Half size up from my usual NB numeric size? What ya all think and who has these shoes?
nothing special about 574. Kind of the mid to lower tier lifestyle model. Found in discount stores etc.  fine comfort, but nothing more than a phylon foam. I’d recommend finding some discounted or lightly used 990v6 or something via eBay if your route is only comfort. Fuelcell, etc. a better foam. They’ve been my so it alls for a while and won’t give up.

According to my local, a very select number of shops got the Kawai Leonard IV shoe

Interesting. Kinetic was one of them I saw carrying them online.

I think it might be an iffy sell for the skate crowd, if even just on the price point alone.

Had to check em out on Kinetic.

This 808 colorway is so nice:

Nope. A $10 difference between reg 1010s and IVs wasn't enough to twig in the moment.

huge bummer about leather shoes but it gives me an excuse to buy a pair of all black 440s. as far as i can tell these are the first mids with wide sizing? @rothdigga can you confirm if wide sizing is an online-exclusive thing or will shops get these?

I got a pair of the mid/hi’s on Saturday. I was trying them on while picking out a deck and wheels and they wore on me enough for me to pick them. I’ve been happy with them so far. Like you said, it doesn’t feel ultra supportive but I think there’s enough in them for my skating. My shop got all of the new New Balance today, I might have picked the grey/black sole Franky lows over what I got but now that I know it’s a show that can work for me, I can look forwards to picking that pair up eventually.

New Balance feel nice on feet though. The ultra subtle drop in the soles for your arches was noticeable as soon as I tried them on. I dig it.

Wow, I thought we had expensive skate shit here in AU. I just did the conversion and a pair of 1010's here is ~2986 Kč. Euro prices are wild!

Hard to tell in this pic, but around the ankle pad are the Chocolate flags from the portrait series (as well as the basketball placement on the sole of the other foot).   Love a collab that is this thoughtful and not just thrown together

I really like the burgundy colorway of the 417.

Do the new changes make a big differencey or is it still a tight fit?

This is my first pair of the 417’s and they do not feel tight. A bit loose if anything but that’s the case for most new balances for me and I go true to size.

This is also my first pair of 417s, not sure what people are feeling when they wear them, but they are not tight (and yeah if anything they have a bit of wiggle room for thicker socks/maybe even a thin insole on top of the AbZoRb nonsense. If you find the 417 tight you must of larger than average feet (I tend to need wide shoes).

These are also the MIDs, no idea if they changed the fit for the LOW.

I’m grateful that I have the mid top too because my 440’s were just loose enough to annoy me when I could feel my my heel rise from the sole with every push that I took. With the higher collar, they feel a bit more secure and keep that from happening in my case.

I skated a park for a while in them tonight and while they feel a bit thin and I did some jumping down some mellow stairs, my feet feel fine. They were getting a bit sore towards the end but we skated for at least 5 hours tonight.

Rock on Franky, rock on New Balance. I recommend this shoe.

(every time I look down, the stitching reminds me of the Half Cab 92’s which I’ve wanted for a very long time and never purchased for myself)

maybe this is the slightly more ergonomic Half Cab.

Yes sir, don't bother experimenting with the Half Cab, NB# is way better for your feet. Especially the more "middle" there is in your age.

I've been trying to skate my 808s lately as much as possible. They just wont die. So much life left and fit is getting better as they wear down. 440s started to hurt my feet really bad, even got a heel bruise landing on my feet skating a small gap. I was able to keep skating the 808s afterwards.

That's the wear so far. Plenty of flipping done too!

Anyone had success with changing the Abzorb insole of the 480 to a less supportive one, such as the stock NB# Ortholite? The Abzorb insole in the 480 feels kinda narrow/crampy and makes my feet ache.

Might bite the bullet and get some Trahan NBs. Will be my first pair of NBs ever.
Trahan is a beast and Chocolate was my favorite brand for a really long time.
I only wish the hightops didn't have the red "N". But I'll cope  ;D

I only wish the hightops didn't have the red "N". But I'll cope  ;D

You could use a razor or exacto knife to cut it off at the stitches, or re color/dye it somehow.

I personally like once I've skated them for a while and the n is hanging off and flapping around.
