Anyone in here going to Slow Impact in AZ?  If so, our shoe designer, Jeff Mikut is doing a panel presentation and discussion on the Reynolds 933 design process.  So if you're on the fence about going and are interested in that deep deep nerd shoe design stuff, it would be worth attending for that.
[close]
Slow impact just posted on their ig and Reynolds himself will be in attendance. i am kicking myself that I won't be able to come this year (last year was a blast). But life happens.

I didn't want to blow Reynolds up but yes, he will be sitting in with Jeff for that discussion so it should be a good one.

Perennial question about any new synthetics in the pipeline?

Are they filming this discussion with Reynolds and Jeff for those who cannot attend?

I hope they film it.

And rothdigga, unless I misread previous messages about the new 808 it's still ambiguous to me - is this a revision to the original 808 or a new shoe that will be produced simultaneously?

Revised version of the 808, the old one will not be continued and it will now only be the 808L version in the marketplace.  So if the OG 808 is your go-to shoe, stock up on any.  There should be some good sale opportunities out there of that shoe so I would advise anyone committed to that shoe to bulk up if they can.

Here's a semi related question, what is the shelf life of a shoe like the 808? I have read something like two years of sitting for a running shoe to start degrading.

Sounds good. I think it's a good choice to not let the line get bloated with multiple versions at once. Maybe the people who skate the OG 808 will end up liking the new ones.

Damn guess I’ll pull the trigger on some other 808 cw. I was cool with 1010 and 808 having variations and just overall being 2 distinct different feeling shoes. Now it seems 808’s just gonna be feeling like a 1010. Why not just morph the 2 together at this point?

Not trying to derail this thread but I just want to take a minute and appreciate the fact that we can talk and ask questions directly to someone working for the shoe company in the thread for that company. @rothdigga you’re fuckin rad, man. I see you responding to everyone’s concerns and queries about the most random details and specs frequently and wanted to take a minute to show my appreciation. I’m not aware of many other brands that have someone so readily available and willing to respond to the public and honestly might start skating # more often because of it. Anyways, carry on. (And show us the Reynolds plz)

Signed. @rothdigga and others from the NB realm are doing a fantastic job. No one would have to bother to partake in the brouhaha of a sketchy message board. But these guys make a difference. This is customer relationship work of the kind that should be referred to as part of someone's TED talk.

Just got some of the NB# apparel and the quality is top notch. Shout out to Kinetic for the super fast shipping as always. I like the rubber embossed labeling.

I can attest to this as well. Super good quality and the embossed logos look awesome. Exactly what I would expect from Numeric’s apparel. As always, killer job @rothdigga and @minigeek

I’ve heard from reputable sources about the 808 slim as well, very curious considering the og 808 fit didn’t work for my feet
[close]

Have our very reputable sources said anything?
[close]
My reputable sources also tell me there's an 808-Light coming in April/May of this year.  $95 retail (down $15) and a bit slimmed down from the previous version.  I can check back with them but they're usually pretty spot on with their info.
It was all thanks to SLAP and pointing out the issues with it 😉😮‍💨. But honestly, if you like the 808 now, you're not going to notice much of a visual difference, but the weight of the shoe and the break in time are vastly improved in my opinion.

I think the 808L is going to be great, my only complaint about the 808 was how god dam stiff and heavy they were. They skated so good tho so if these improve on the flexibility and weight they should be dope. If the 808L can match the 1010 in comfort I would be hyped cuz the 808 is just a beautiful shoe

I RECENTLY TRIED NB# 440 V2 HI AND I LOVE IT

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

MY DREAM SHOE IS A 440 (or possibly even slimmer shoe) WITH A 1010 SOLE (flexible with gel/foam/cushioning from heel to toe)

WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THIS HAPPENING AND/OR HAS IT ALREADY HAPPENED AND I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT SHOE TO BUY?

INFORMATION APPRECIATED

❤️❤️❤️
I would check out Tom Knox's shoe then, the 600. Full length Fuelcell Midsole foam, thinned out upper. Might be exactly what you're looking for.

@rothdigga will there be any 440v2 colorways that have a leather toe cap?
[close]

I don't think they plan on any in the future besides the trail versions.  To be honest, our leather toe caps don't really tend to sell very well at retail.  I like them but customers will shy away from leather at the front thinking it's too slippery I think.  We've seen it with 306's and a few others so it makes sense to just roll with suede if that's what people are looking for.

@mini greek is that why the new white/gum 600s are leather all over except for the nose piece?

Bingo.

A fellow 440/440v2 lover here and also skated a pair of 600's. Sole is stiffer but decent out of box. Same grip and flick. NB doing a good job giving their cups a "vulc feeling" flick.
We rode 7.5's" and didn't complain.

Would like to see more perforated leather vamp 1010s like the Rones and a red or maroon colorway is much much needed at this point.

While I like how they’re doing similar variations of the “main” colorways each year, I think there’s still a lot of untapped potential color/material combos for that model we’ve yet to see

That being said I think at this point it’s NB#’s magnum opus shoe. I like trying other models and brands but the 1010s still stand above all else

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I loved the fact the 808s sole was stiff as hell.

Is the new sole going to be at least as stiff as a 480 or more flexible than that?

I agree, I love the rigid stiff as hell sole on the 808.
My preference would be keep it that stiff but lighten it up, maybe swap the abzorb midsole (heavier foam, at least to my knowledge) with the Fuelcel to reduce weight or take in those areas instead. I’m going to go out on a limb and say it won’t feel that much more flexible. Fingers crossed
