$130!?! Holy fucking shit.

wdym
as in $130 is a lot?
if so, here i come with one of my favorite things to bitch and moan about. you are welcome.

i’m reynolds aged (just for pricing context). i remember when gas cost 1/5 of what it does now, yadda yadda.
jordans cost $150 at times, back when, like in the 90s. i think the david robinson shoe was even more (underrated). 1:1 the first muska circa shoe was up around $130 it? i am a broke old guy, and not financially savvy, so take this with a shovel of salt, but HOW WOULD something possibly be priced similarly 30 years later?
i want to be able to buy good things. those will cost more money. i hate that everything needs to be cheap. this stuff just sucks. then everyone buys more of it, and it goes into the trash faster.
i’m not saying these will be great, they are not to my knowledge made using union labor or ethically this and that sourced stuff, i just don’t see how you could get a shoe much cheaper. i’m more tripped out about how much crap we have, maybe if it cost more i would buy less of it.
i’m really yelling at the clouds am i not. time for gramps to hit a nap brb

Well put. Same age and general condition/experience here.
And the 990 line are all more than $130.

Wait until the tariffs hit.

Nike heads paid $240 for the SB Jordan 4.

The Natas #480 High went for $120.

A well-designed shoe for $130 that a lot of people are stoked on isn’t unreasonable.

Got mine arriving Wednesday.   With a colorway name like “incense/rich oak” I’m expecting these to smell amazing

Mine are set to get here Wednesday too lol.

I third(?) this perspective. I remember in 11th grade saving up to buy the K3 and it was 110. That was 2000. So a top of the line skate shoe for 130 seems like a fairly mellow increment for price to increase. What really hurts is that we're all not making a ton more money in comparison. Oh well. Reynolds shoe looks rad to me.

woah, these are cool. how do they skate compared to the normal 440v2?

Ngl, I've got one more pair of the V1 in the closet, and will miss skating them dearly. So I'll let you know

I liked the look of them for chillers, we'll see

Slide 4 shows scale of thickness between 440v2 and 1010. Cool cutaway too, not sure if sample or final
[close]

I’m surprised the Reynolds isn’t further right on the cushion scale. The 1010 isn’t really as cushioned as it looks - the Emerica Reynolds low felt softer to me. The midsole unit in the new shoe looks huge. Fake runner like the 420?

I concur. Seeing that its slightly thinner than a 1010 has me intrigued

Lol. Eldee is definitely a human. He’s like a raider on horse back who’s kinda scared to do battle. Somehow he closes his eyes and swings his sword wildly and wakes up in a pile of dead orcs.

Could be that is thinner but unlike 1010 the 933 has mostly Abzorb right? Maybe with less Abzorb you get more cushioning than with more Fuelcell.

I’ve skated in the 933 for a couple days now. Feels noticeably thicker / more cushioned than the 1010 with less board feel than the 1010. But I’ve been digging it. Or I should say, my old man feet and knees have been digging it.

Would it be like a middle ground between 1010 and 808?

LESS board feel than the 1010? Damn. Love the 1010's but was hoping for basically a slightly-thinner 1010

Good to see it seems like the 933 wides are going to be a little more widespread.  And for those of you that thought the 480 was a little narrow in the midfoot, the 480 wide nails it.  They are perfect on my feet.

Anyone interested… oddly enough it mentions heel slippage “due to a slick sock liner”. It’s the one thing I don’t like about the shoe and preventing me from wanting to skate them.

Bought another pair of my favorite shoe that I absolutely hate, yep the 1010s, first couple of pairs my middle toe hurt, then they changed the width between the top two lace holes and I tore a ligament in my left ankle, by the time I was back on board they had sorted out the hole spacing - after I sent them 100s of emails they even shaved off that pesky .001mm difference on the midsole compared to some previous drops and things were looking swell, that is until I realized mid kickflip that the stitching around the toe box was about .004 mm higher up then it was in the earlier models, while still in the air my whole body tensed up so when I landed primo….. I shattered my pelvis. After that I was just getting healed enough to get back on the board again, I was out of work and money was slim but I ordered one of each available color way off there site. Fast forward a bunch of size 5 1/2 1010s arrive at our door step the same day the sharif came knockin tryna kick us out, my wife was furious and tried to make me return or sell all the shoes but I insisted we were on the verge of something, silly me I guess, I woke up the next morning and she had left with the kids. I eventually got forced out of the house. Mom I’m home and I brought some of those shoes I’m always talking about! One day after sending out a few emails to new balance complaint department from ye basement kingdom I said hey guess should try out some new 1010s got to the park straight after leaving zumiez I laced them up, you guessed it - the updated shape of the heel compressed my ankle to the point I farted in fear as I rushed to tear them off my feet I lost my balance bending over and hit my head on the ground cracking my skull. Anyways that was about 4 months ago and I’m just now starting to feel up to skating again, just ordered a few more 1010s but I’m concerned- are the insoles still the absolute fucking worst?

Yeah but do you find them to be TTS? Because I'm a 9.5 in 1010s unless they have mesh then I'm an 8. But in 480s I'm an 11 and in 808s actually I'm more like a 10.25 but in 440V1s I'm a 12 but for some reason in the V2s I'm a 5.

Lucky. Normally, I’m a size 10.5 US in Vans but when I get NB 600’s, I’m a 13 on my left foot and a 7.1875 wide on my right foot.

This is definitely worth the 27 minutes and 39 seconds. It was also reassuring to hear that he didn't like the skate-specific insoles that come with Half Cabs, and would replace them with something else.

At about 17:24, Jeff talks about the 933 being the lightest shoe they've made. I assume he's saying that in comparison to the other NB# cupsoles. So I had to bust out the food scale to confirm.

There is a pic out there from when he first signed with them of all the insane combos he made just to skate them.
