The uppers def break in and get soft enough overtime. Especially the suede ones like you said. Those first white/red ones were especially stiff though. Felt like a completely different material than what was used on the white/grey ones.
If they made the heel portion of the midsole as thick as the forefoot now, that would be sick. Maybe remove a little forefoot too if possible.
Basically a 440 style midsole on a 480 upper/outsole. Oh man, what a dream.
So essentially the 480, just shorten the midsole so it isn't full length
Yea, and thin the heel portion by like half. Not sure if it's the same material as the 440 midsole but it feels much thicker. Im sure the outsole thickness plays a part in this too.
I can see why they don't do this as it would overlap the 440 too much, and I get what they're trying to provide with the 480 (it's a great shoe)
That would just suit my particular preferences quite well. The thicker outsole and upper would beef up the 440 to my liking, and the overall shape of the 480 fits my toes much better.
If we're playing fantasy shoes here. 480 upper and outsole somehow modified slightly to provide better heel lock (like the 440). With a 440 esque midsole would be something super appealing to me. I don't mind trading the lack of heel lock in the 480 for the toe room it provides though, as I can always just lace them tighter.
