How long does a 480 last before it needs superglue on seams?

Oh theyre on my feet  but 3 hours in im applying superglue…

I superglue the seams of any shoe usually after the first session

I can see where it's making contact with the griptape, and making the thread fuzzy, so I soak super glue gel up in there only in the spots it's happening. After about two weeks or less I'm shoe gooing holes or preventing holes with shoe goo(I have wide feet and do a lot of heelflip tricks)

I be superglueing shit usually every other session to make my shoes last as long as possible

Skated the 480 highs I've had on ice for the first time today. Coming off 440s for years, gotta say I... love these. Flick is different, feels sturdier maybe a touch more consistent. Good grip.

Was afraid they'd be like bulky bricks but definitely weren't. Was afraid I wouldn't feel the board at all and did.

Extra room in the toebox made my feet feel less straight jacketed than the narrower 440.

Only con so far is the fit around the ankle isn't as secure as the 440 but I can likely solve that with different lacing strategies. Feel like my entire report echoes what others have said about the 480.

I guess another con is current availability for this shoe, which I find concerning. Really hard to find. Hopefully the Q2 drop has that new cw coming that was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Yeah, I've had a few sessions on mine and liking them a lot. Here are my favorite things about them:
  • Tongue bands on top of the lace loop make the tongue stay cantered and in place perfectly. I really love that feature and have missed it for a long time since I stopped skating basketball shoes in the 80's and other tech skate shoes in the late 90s/early 00s.
  • Laces or lace holes keep the laces where you set them and they stay tight so no need to double lace or keep adjusting
  • Stability - I thought they were too stiff and flat like a 2x4 under my feet at first but not really noticeable while skating and really help keep my feet planted
  • Support - snug around the foot but not constricting with room to wiggle toes a bit.
  • Not a pita to put on or take off. I hate having to loosen all the laces all the way down just to put on or take of shoes like I had to with Blazer Mids
Overall, I don't think about them much while I'm skating, which is a good thing. They blend into my skating, keep my feet comfy and feel very protected but flexible at the same time. I get the hype for NB# shoes now.

Still not decided on the insole and might swap out for my FPs after popping around a bit and noticing some foot fatigue but want to give the stock insoles a bit more of a chance while I'm still breaking the shoes in. I did notice the stock insoles seem like shitty foam that do nothing for shock absorption like most stock insoles so it's very likely I'll eventually swap them out.

Also, as good as these shoes are, I don't think I'll get them or another conventional skate shoe again. I need some barefoot skate shoes and hope these last long enough for some good ones to come out. I noticed in that upcoming drop that was posted recently that there were no 480 highs included so that sucks for the people who want to keep getting these.
An update on my #480 Highs.
Still going strong with the logo and stitching on front foot coming apart from ollies and a bit on the back foot. No holes yet and the outsole is worn nicely but still lots of life and grippy. I still never bothered changing the insole and would say the impact protection is good as is. Overall, still a good skate shoe that feels right when skating but not great for anything else. There is a major flaw in them for me around the toes because they have been giving me an ongoing blister or cut right on top of my 2nd toe on the front foot. I haven’t ever gotten this from any other shoe and when I wiggle my toes in them, it feels like there is decent space and also feels very padded in that area when I check with my fingers. So not sure what the deal is other than they must be rubbing in some weird way. Pretty much a dealbreaker that means I’ll not be planning on buying these shoes again.
Based on the wear, seems like these will still last me a very long time so I’ll stick with them until they are dead but really looking forward to someone making a suitable barefoot style skate shoe. These fancy tech shoes seem to fuck something up one way or another but I’m glad to have tried and know what the deal is now.

I like playing favorites too but I appreciate how every shoe feels different and has a unique fit and function.

I mainly use my 933s as chiller/walking shoes right now.  Could see myself potentially skating them down the line.  Love how snug and comfy they are.  Such a beautiful shoe, I’m just still in preservation mode with mine.  If releasing a “Lite” model would mean losing this version, I’d be disappointed.

With the 1010s, some I skate and work in, some I chill in.  Most versatile and reliable workhorse shoe.  Feels like the heel pods, fit and, for the most part, the materials have been improved over time.

Having both shoes makes me appreciate each model more… I go back and forth on which shoe I like most all the time…

Then there’s the 770, a chiller with tons of space for my feet to splay out in.  Maybe not sk8boarder4life wide but generous for me.  Super cushy foam.  Surprisingly lightweight.

The 808 og is such a fucking tank.  I wear it when I want to work or cruise and dull out all feeling that day.  Not enough board feel to actually skate with much control.  I actually don’t know how Tiago gets so tech in them.  Makes me appreciate his talent even more.  But they’re comfy as hell, just needs to be a full size up for me.

The 600 has some decent boardfeel for a cup.  Still breaking mine in, but the upper fits my foot really well.  The grip is good.  It’s a solid lightweight shoe with a nice shape and just enough padding that seems to check all of the boxes.

Still resisting the highly tempting 306 cup since my collection is sprawling already but I’ll probably try it eventually…

Love all the variety in #’s line these days!  They’ve really flooded the block and made it impossible to ignore what they’re doing.  Nice having a shoe for all occasions.  It does make life a little sweeter.
[close]

FWIW, the 306C is magic for me, if the 508 had just a bit more room in the mid/fore foot it would be just as amazing, just wearing the 508 as chillers but I can see I will need a new insole before I skate them

Appreciate the rec!  All the 306 cup colorways are pretty sick but the black/nightwatch and timberwolf/dark moss stand out most to me.  Super hard to decide… also waiting for the right shop sale and taking a beat because my shoe budget is pretty tapped haha

Even the Gas Giants collab has my attention, although I too can’t get past the big white tongue label.  Unfortunate design decision as the rest of the shoe is pretty tasteful!

I have the Blk/grn color way, I love them!
went out in my Adidas Tekkira Cup yesterday, and while I like them, they are not the 306 for sure!
I need an all white 306c!

Couldn’t agree more. Tom K is a treasure.

They don’t make the 379 anymore, 272 replaced it in the line up.

Feels like it’s been awhile since there was a pro colorway, been a lot more collabs lately, think the last pro colorway was Justin Henry’s 440v2 high? I’d be game for anyone to get a colorway at this point lol. Been hoping the Q3 480 high that’s been mentioned ends up being a pro colorway.

I'm pretty sure it was already revealed by roth earlier in this thread that's going to be a blacked out colorway, with no mention of it being connected to a pro. Would love to see a pro colorway of that shoe tho

Must’ve missed that! Wonder how similar it is to the suede black/gum pair that released awhile back.

A first look at the no comply 480s. This is the second 480 collab my local has done and I’m liking this one more. They’re also doing a demo next Saturday to support. First 480s I’m planning on getting since that original brown reynolds colorway.

Weird, I felt that the pair I tried on felt pretty comparable to the pair I own but I only tried it on. I plan on getting these so I can report back on the sole. The heel on 480s in general were always a bit narrow and tall for skating so I generally just use the pair I have for chillers.

I got a promo pair to show off to the Slap community, they come with three pairs of laces, flat ones, ovals, and the “rope” pair, gum sole ain’t gonna let you slip around, I wear thick cotton socks when I skate, so I went TTS, I feel like most people will want to size down a half size, they are a lil tall in the heel area, but I think I’ll be able to manage, materials are super nice, suede already feels broken in, there’s a hit of denim on the back heel with no comply stitched onto it, velvet stash pocket, paisley and tie dye throughout, seriously hyped on these, great colorway and the story behind them is cool

I can def see the hippy part of the hippy cowboy from your pics.   I like that it feels more connected to that scene than the other colorway, but then again maybe I didn’t know the story behind it

I think the last pair just matched the walls of the shop, but I’d like to think they were green because before house park was there, there was a small wooden park with green ramps called green park

How is the heel slip on these? My older 480s won't stay on my feet to save my life. Also interesting that you mention to half-size down, wondering if that would help although not sure I have the length to lose.
