Thinking about inverted thunder 147s for my 8.0 x 14.0wb board. Coming from Indy 139 standards. I don't like the baseplate issue on thunders but love everything else.

I know it’s probably just my own bias but I swear within the last week or two I’ve noticed a spike in people switching to or showing interest in Thunders. Not just here either.

To answer the poster I replied to previously, they turn very well but it’s an acquired appreciation if you’re used to the rapid response of ace.

The Prime8 triple ratchet lite. I'm sold on it so far. One iteration previously had a bearing push/pull but looks like the current tool doesn't so that's the only downside I'm seeing.

Ok, that looks great and exactly what I was hoping for when I mentioned a while back about ratcheting hardware tool that has hanger clearance. It seemed like the Silver tool was the only option but this looks a lot better. But now I’m really curious about the bearing pull feature you mentioned. Any images or demonstrations of that?

This is the drop-in push sold separately form the tool:
https://prime8boardsupply.com/products/bearing-push-tool

SW has it for $10

Cowtown lists what looks like an older model with the bearing push:
https://www.cowtownskateboards.com/skateboarding/accessories/tools/prime8/ratchet-lite-skate-tool-black-pid-78267

But another model doesn't have it listed:
https://www.cowtownskateboards.com/skateboarding/accessories/tools/prime8/triple-ratchet-lite-skate-tool-black-pid-78276

Prime8's site hasn't been updated in a while but they're doing a lot of endorsements in reels on Instagram with skaters demoing the tool.

Re hangar clearance, an unexpected issue came up when I bought Ventures for the first time: the Pig tool I bought (with the rethreader) wasn't able to reach straight down to the outer hardware bolts. I had to hold it an angle. I chalked it up to the differences in wb and the hangar being more pushed out vs the Indys I was on for years. Now I'm wondering if that Prime8 ratchet will reach to the Venture baseplate straight on vs having to hold it at an angle.

i think it is coinciding with the TIIs because theyre being marketed as a "if you like aces you'd like these thunders" type truck

and having tried them myself i'm inclined to agree

That bearing push/pull isn't what I was hoping for but it's decent. Doesn't really do more than just using your trucks. Someone here mentioned that pressing/pulling against the center bearing is NOT the way to go and damages the bearing. You need something that only presses/pulls on the outer ring but I see how that is difficult, especially the pulling part.

As for hanger clearance, this part is the key that should make it perfect:

When used with the ratchet like this:

But it is unclear which versions actually come with that part. It says it is magnetically stored in the tool on some of them.

Yeah it pulls from the handle where it's stored and magnetizes to each end. I'm almost certain the ones labeled Triple Ratchet have this.

Good to know and thanks for sharing this item. I was ready to settle on the Silver tool if I were to buy a new skate tool but I like this design a lot more.

Edit: And I was looking for where the hardware socket extension was stored until I realized it's the same piece at the end of the handle so it can be used as a fixed socket there or ratcheting socket when removed. Makes the design even better to me!

Those AA indies. I definitely don’t need trucks and usually dislike pro colorway trucks in general but for some reason I feel like I need those.

Correction.

You NEED anything and everything related to AA.

You can't go wrong. You'll be flying across the Baja dessert on your motorcycle with the wind in your full luscious hair. You'll be doing graceful cutbacks at Trestles on your shelf-shaped surfboard. You'll be watching your exotic girlfriend play in her rock band, bewitching songs played just for you. You'll get the lead role in a remake of a beloved 80s movie. and most importantly you'll be blindside kick flipping into impossibly steep banks.

I caved in, and got a set of the 159s in case I need the old school mounting pattern, which is a bullshit excuse. If there’s a St. Patrick’s Day sale, I’ll probably get another set in 144s.

Also, I keep thinking about getting the Little Cados (Doodies), but I can’t bring myself to check out either out of embarrassment or the fact that I’ll immediately swap them out for Radial Fulls once they no longer amuse me.

Are you sure the 159’s come with 6 holes since they’re a pro model?

Ah ok you’re all set then. I’m so tempted to buy the 149’s just because AA is rad and I have a board on ice they would look so good on, but I have too many sets of trucks as it is. But damn. May have to flip a coin

Any and every Stage XI truck 109, 159, 169, 215 in cast baseplates all have six holes, although some of the extra two sets of holes have a little difficulty lining up in old school hole patterns oddly enough.  That includes mids too.  All the Stage IV reissues also have six holes.

It is only the forged baseplates that are four hole only for every option.

Might just be a personal preference but besides plain silver, the old classic black baseplates with silver hangers are a tried and true colourway, which is always going to sell well.  AA is on a good one there, especially thinking about some of the other truck colourways I have seen in the last few years.

Thinking back, almost everything to do with Andrew Allen sells well - the Spitfire wheels instantly sell out, his old boards used to always sell fairly quickly, his shoe sold out, etc.  I guess I am a bit of an Andew Allen fan as well.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I copped one from Atlas when they were doing 30% off. If you wear a L or XL, you should get one from 303, especially if they have a St. Patrick’s Day sale. Blacklist rarely does sales but they have M-XL.

It’s perfect for spring and early fall.

Thanks for the info. I am happy to hear that someone here copped that jacket. I hope a % of the sale goes to Tom’s handler.

I probably won’t buy it but it is a sick piece and should be a collector’s item. For anoraks you really can’t do better than Champion. That’s what I wear.

Debating on going to the local and buying those tfunk 57mm radials. I don’t really get a chance to skate much street and I won’t out risers on so I don’t need them I just want them. When I do skate street it is kinda crusty

There was a typo in an older DLX catalog because this turned out to be a Manderson shape instead of Dreamer.

Also, I’m debating whether to get the No-Comply x Chrome bag:

tempted to get some T2s after my lurpivs. I want a bit more stability and i feel like the slightly lower height may help with that. I know they are a relatively carvy truck (i rode ace af1s forever) and i figured i would try to offset that by using hard bushings. would indy aftermarkets fit or do i just go get new thunder bushings? do i just totally go nuts and go for venture v8s with aftermarket bushings? for reference im 200+ and skate mostly transition, curbs, and small ledges + i want to learn my flip tricks. I’d appreciate any guidance!
