eS also put a couple of their newer vegan options on sale (maroon swift 1.5 and blue/grey accel slim). Has anyone tried the previous colorways of the swift 1.5 and can comment on the sizing?

swift 1.5 has the same outsole as accel plus so should be tts no?

I haven't tried the accel plus either, so I don't know first-hand. I've always found SoleTech shoes to be TTS all around, but I got a pair of the Emerica Quentins during the last sale and my true size was slightly small and I had to return them.
Anyway, we finally get a vegan HalfCab and it's this expensive garbage:

$150 shipped

I had both the evertstich and accel plus (same sole) and they both fitted tts for me, usually sole tech tts for me is slightly tight but the spanly ksl fits like 1/4 bigger it’s dreamy for my feet.
Those half cabs … ugh :(

those are so bad! vans were my shoe of choice for decades but they seriously suck anymore. seems like once rowley went full on trophy hunter kook the company has mostly abandoned vegan options other than canvas slip-ons and authentics. i can only think of one lizzie color and 3 bmx wafflecups in last few years that weren't canvas. i would love a sham reissue but they'd probably make it out of bighorn sheep.

so I caved and I bought a pair of these because I can't pass up the rare vegan halfcab. Arrived today and I have to say they're actually pretty dope. They have the thick removable insole similar to the Skate Ultracush but just a softer density (same one they put in the Surf DX line if you're familiar). I'll swap in an ultracush and I'm looking forward to skating them.

No, it's rubber. It's supposed to be like "extended vulcanization" but it's just a rubber toe and heel cap

I know it's gonna be near no chance but anyone happen to have a pair of DC pure anytime recently? I remember liking them in like 05 and they look like an ok mid point between dunks and halfcabs (both of which are dumb expensive here now) also non leather/suede options.

Just noticed that SkateWarehouse lists these as a synthetic upper. NB site just has the generic description of suede & canvas which is obviously incorrect. @rothdigga @mini greek any insight?

I’m considering getting the FA Louie Mids since it says that it’s rubber-backed velvet. Has anyone seen them in person? The star and chevron look like leather and I can’t tell the difference between velvet and suede by looking at pictures.

Edit: The uppers are velvet but the star chevron is leather, according to the Converse website.

I have the same all black ones also, but I haven’t skated them. I just wear them to work, how do you like them for skating? My biggest gripe is not being able to swap insoles.

You can Defs pull out the LRAB insoles, not hard to do, be gentle and patient and they’ll come out in one piece

oh wow, I just assumed those were suede uppers, but yeah, converse is pretty terrible about applying leather trims to otherwise-vegan shoes. See also the cordura canvas one-stars posted here recently (suede heel stripe for no real reason)

The shoes are still in transit. Should have them in a couple of days. I heard a blow dryer can help melt the adhesive on the insole and then can be easily removed. Might give it a try. That's similar to me, I bought these for work as well.

I've had multiple pairs of LRABs and I remove the insoles every time. There's seriously only two microscopic dots of super glue holding them in: one in the heel and one more towards the midfoot. No heating is necessary, just peel and pull. That being said, Pontus said they were changing to a softer glue because they recognized that many people were replacing the insoles, so those new black canvas 003 highs might be even easier.

Oh man, don’t tell GISM I said this but I may need to get those white ones. I like that they have the canvas toecap instead of rubber. I think I’ll either try these or the new Austyn mids, any release date info on those (Posted in the general release thread)?

Nah I think it's fair. It's still an animal product. You wouldn't buy a veg fried rice cooked in a bit of pork fat so why would a shoe with minimal leather branding pass?
