i was probably 6 or 7 the first time i had one. i used to live by this the middle eastern place growing up and the dude told me to try it. i was a little reluctant at first because to a kid "falafel" just sounds weird. but i took a bite and he had me hooked, i graduated from hotdogs to falafels that year.

We used to call early grab frontside airs chili dogs. My friend was a hefty fellow. We were skating a ramp and my other friend told him to "grab it like you're grabbing a chili dog."

theres only one good hotdog place and its in jersey, its called "hirams". i think it was on man vs. food or some shit.
the only time and only place i'll have a hotdog is when i'm around there.

If you're not grilling (i.e. cooking them in the kitchen) what is the preferred method? Pan fry? boil? microwave?
I like them in the frying pan.

for the most part i agree but hirams isn't your typical hot hog. you know how after you eat a hotdog you burp and get that nasty after taste? but not with these dogs, i don't think they buy them either, i think they make them fresh with 100% all beef.

pan fry til the skin gets crispy.
not that i would have them anywhere but the place i mentioned but if i were, pan fry would be the only way.

Beer mustard is good, and that mustard they have at ikea is too. French's is best for plain yellow, but the germans make some good mustard too.

i didn't eat mustard up until a couple of years ago. i couldn't get past the color or the taste of it growing up and wouldn't eat anything that had the slightest trace of it.
then like 2 years ago i order a hot pastrami on a hero and told the guy no mustard but he put it on anyway and i didn't notice until i got home. i wasn't about to throw out a perfectly good sandwich and wasn't about to scrape it off when the cheese was all melted on so i ate it and OMG that shit was banging! i can't believe i was missing out for so long.
spicy mustard is the truth! yellow mustard not so much, that stuff is really terrible in comparison.
