USELESS WOODEN TOY BANTER / Re: Stevie Williams Owns JKWON

maybe a bit beside the point and forgive me if it’s a weird take, i have always felt like it’s super lame to move to another area (especially across the entire country) and then try to claim something as your turf? if this was back in the day, nobody from philly is going to emb and just becoming the “owner” of that spot the same as no sf dude is popping up at love doing the same. it’s also extra weird when you’re such an east coast dude to begin with, like if he didn’t claim philly so hard then still weird but, i guess it just comes down to a “you can’t have your cake and eat it too” scenario.
Thank you.

Stevie can’t own LA spots. That’s not how it works.

No one should “own” spots to begin with but if someone is gonna own an LA spot it should be like Fabian Alomar

Stopping and waiting so long to get back into it.

And not doing more vert when I was young and fearless.

That was sick and Maite’s trick in this was gnarly. Y’all are tripping. Jeff Cheung’s ride on 5-0 on that hubba into the sketchy brick bank was so cool too

HolyFuck. What a talent.

This shit to me is way more appealing than anything he does over a flatgap or a trashcan.  I'd like a part like this from him.  Both of those were clean af stylewise too

Damn, this is a bummer. What the fuck Cole?

And you guys talking about his style- not really relevant here. It’s not ok to beat women cause you skate well.

Thinking of giving the 6.1s a go with a 8.75 and 9.0, anyone ride a similar setup? On 9.0 decks are you rocking 3 washers on the inside with wide ass wheels?

Was my go to for a while with 8.75 AWS and then the polar 9.0. Great combo on both, on the 9.0 would rock 56 connie fulls, and yes a couple more washers, still a bit tucked but the magic carpet makes it a little nimbler.

Im currently on the 6.1 with 3 washers on the inside and a 8.75 Deck with a 14.75 Wheelbase and its great. Before i rode the same Trucks with the 9.25 Chocolate Couch shape and it worked great too.

Also riding a similar setup, 6.1's on the white eagle for the last few months. I don't feel the need for the extra washers with the 8.75 deck. Just threw on some BIG conical fulls (58) and nothing feels better on transition. Flatground tricks are extremely satisfying with the heft of the setup.

I'm wondering if they're going to sell the loose conversion kits anymore... I don't want to have to buy a whole new truck for the smaller top bushings. Anyone know if they're planning on restocking them, or if there is something that I can substitute for them? I was so happy they made those because my little electric sander broke and I hate filing down bushings by hand.

Appreciation! / Re: Mike Rusczyk appreciation!

That Pig wheels swirl ad is fire! Mike is my favorite skater, and I’ve mentioned (I think in this thread prior, without going back), informed so much of my idea of skateboarding.

I also had the orange/yellow swirls.

He would have fit seamlessly into modern skateboarding. Way ahead of the curve.

Yeah I loved that swirls ad too, along with the autumnal leafy intro to Foundation pic. For a relatively simple trick it’s a standout photo.

I think you’re totally right - he was way ahead of his time with his approach to skating and would have fit in AND stood out nicely in today’s landscape.

He’s got a great kickflip flick too- specifically thinking of a kickflip 5050 (maybe with an alley oop ns 180 pop out ?) on a flat step-up ledge in one of his foundation parts.

That time period of Rusczyk on Foundation and Strubing’s 88 and That’s Life parts I always saw them as kinda similar. Both had their own really cool approach to (mostly regular) skating that made me see things a little differently too.

Everything about this guy is phony as fuck, imagine trying to change someone else’s name right after you yourself went through a Hot Topic fresh-to-hesh costume change.

Not to mention the guy who sent you the box is a Jamie and you were born a James

Again sort of bolstering the point I also mentioned about a name being an important to someone’s identity and a very understandable thing to for Christine to have mentioned in the context she did.

I hope she’s doing better now , as her post seems to suggest ❤️
