USELESS WOODEN TOY BANTER / Re: sk8 lingo of yesteryear
« Last post by j....soy..... on Today at 09:26:26 AM »
I remember coming home from a session and explaining to my g/f that someone had ‘eaten shit’ and you could see her wheels just turning……’you and your friends are doing WHAT?!?!’

What’s interesting about this conversation is why the variances?  Something like a one foot….it was pretty much banished from skateboarding but to then pop up on THPS years later….

Just wanted to chime in and say how great the 93's are. I've ridden 99's my whole life and had the mentality "if it aint broke dont fix it".

I set up a Christmas complete with the 93's and compared it to my old set up with the 99's.

Wow...never realized how much vibrations there was from my 99's. The 93's do everything they claim to do and honestly I havent been this impressed with a skate product in a while. So much to the point I will probably be sticking with these.

It's one of those products you dont really think you need...then you try it out and you're like wtf...I wish I had this from the start.

Biggest take aways: I can skate longer cause the softer wheels absorbs the vibrations, I dont have to push as much, I go faster, I can set up for my tricks better per having a smoother ride.

Shoes & Gear / Re: Slappy trucks (Mike Sinclair's new brand)

if you leave the trucks "stock" like where the nut is perfectly flush with the bolt - will you still shred the top bushing with the stock top washer?
is there a different brand washer like Indy i could put on to stop this? I have a set of indy med-hard (the blue ones) bushings that would probably work awesome in these trucks (if they fit). Or at least just change the top bushing?

The stock washer comes very 'cupped' rounded top but pretty long on the sides of the bushing,  this is what digs in, switch to more of a 'cap' washer (Indy or ace) or flat and you should be fine....if it's surface area isn't to big, because it will bind if so (when riding loose).

Anyone else drop the word "ill"? That was the ultimate props in my crew. You get that "Yo that was iiillllll!!" from the sidelines and you're just beaming.

Love how "gnarly" and "whack" have been cornerstones in sk8 lingo for decades at this point.

please don't call anything buttery-ass ever again, leave that shit in 2010. Even steezy is better than that. Remember that Berrics "text yo self" segment? Every fuckin trick had to buttery-ass this, buttery-ass that, buttery-ass Donovan. Get ya buttery-ass the fuck out.

When I started skating in the mid-80's, we called a slam (is that also dated?) a "beef." As in, "I beefed so hard trying a saran wrap off of that launch ramp."

Bionic/Bio were already fading out of use by that time as well.

In 20+ years I've never bought a Toy board. This made me want to pick one up to support though, it's easy to overlook the legacy brands but damn are they doing it right lately. The girls all ripped, especially Shiloh, and Braden had some craziness. Axel kills it too, I really enjoyed the movie, and will absolutely rewatch a bunch. They should pick up Martino...

Same. One foots is what they were called before that game. I’ll call them one foots because Jason Lee did the best ones and he calls them one foots. It’s just telling on yourself if you call them anything else.

Exactly. They were/will always be one foots. I was so confused when THPS came out and called that trick an Ollie North.
