I just ordered a hopps and a traffic deck from Mantis online shop. Turns out mantis/mdcn basically just prints the logos of these brands on their own cheap China wood. The decks were a different shape than the actual American models, too. I fuckin hate mdcn wood. It Feels bad, and doesn’t last long. I don’t know if this means all European hopps and traffic decks are mdcn or mdcn just has a license to make these cheap “counterfit“ decks for the German market.
Antiz boards were made by MDCN, right? Those broke like matchsticks for me.
I am curious to hear more, but I am also guessing it is down to distribution rights, as per some other brands, between USA, EU, Asia or other markets, there are some differences, but I hadn't heard these guys doing that before.
Seeing other boards all with the same stickers on the tops from a number of brands there:
https://mantisshop.de/Theories of Atlantis, being the owner of the brand distribution, or maybe just the rights to distribute them in USA also have Theories, Hopps, Traffic, Picture Show and others under their own umbrella, along with distributing Magenta, Studio, Evisen and more.
https://www.theoriesofatlantis.com/There was a bit of curiosity about what woodshop they were using for their own boards, BBS or Clutch or something else, some listings saying Made in Mexico, others nothing at all.
Also seemed like Traffic was all Clutch, but Hopps or Theories was BBS, but I still don't have any current info on those brands.
